Wow! that is a long Hammock mate!...i used several hammocks with my DD 3X3 tarp...(one of which was a bit on the long side) with never a hitch....in winter i stick a lightweight 3/4 length closed cell foam roll mat between my poncho liner and hammock...works great...i've used it in temps down to minus 20 degrees F...Great intro there hansom!...lol...woods

There was a cold wind that night and seemed to suck the heat from my sleeping bag. I'm still in the stages of trial and error with regards to hammock camping so any advice is much appreciated. Thanks for watching.

@abfoutdoors19946 жыл бұрын
Another crackin video Damien, i was there in October, not too far away by the look of it. Have you tried your tarp in a diamond over your hammock rather than an A frame, it may provide that extra length over your head and feet. Take care, atb.
@Fell_Wanderer6 жыл бұрын
If I didn't have the tarp extenders I would have used the diamond configuration instead. I'm not totally happy with them as they are fiddly to set up and in the cold with numb fingers will be an issue. The DD 10x10 in a diamond isn't the best option in bad weather either and the DD 4.5 x 3 meter is bulky for my minimal mindset. I love bivy camping, its so simple to pitch, so I wont change much in the future but there are times when hammock camping is the best way so will refine the setup I have but may just use the larger tarp for convenience and have the ridge/guy lines attached for easy deployment as it took me a while to set up on this occasion. The DD 10x10 superlight is used for so many other camping situations I dont pack it away with guy lines attached for any one specific role. Thanks for watching. atb

Hello Damian! I want to know what you think the hand gesture: "the Horns" means to you? You use it often . I did a bit of research and found different answers.
@Fell_Wanderer4 жыл бұрын
I'm not religious, so the horns to me is just a hand jesture wild campers do sometimes. I copied it from someone and they copied it from someone else. I try not to get too much into other interpritations as that just opens up a can of worms with different theories of devil worship, occult, etc.. Whatever I do in a video upload, someone will question and may or may not get offended. Like your great president Abraham Lincoln, You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.

next time instead of using tarp extenders pitch the tarp in a diamond vs square, makes the ends a bit longer and gives you more rain cover while still providing plenty of side cover
@Fell_Wanderer6 жыл бұрын
I was testing the tarp extenders otherwise I would have used the diamond pitch.

Just stumbled across your videos by accident and I’ve had plenty of good viewing. I only live along the road at Pegswood. Very keen fisherman and Man of the countryside myself too. I do a lot of kayak fishing both fresh and salt water. If you fancy a go out for some mackerel in the warmer months and a wild beach cook your more than welcome to come out and I’ll bring a spare kayak etc. Could make a canny video for you. Have a look at my videos and you will see what I mean. Speak soon buddy. John.
@Fell_Wanderer6 жыл бұрын
Hi John, I get asked by lots of people to go camping and the truth is I don't have the time to get out and meet everyone. There is a KZbin community meetup at Brockwell woods in March which is being organised by John Nebushcraft, there are 30 places and only half are filled up so if you are interested let me know or contact John directly on his channel. I will have a look at your videos, atb, Damian.

Fell Wanderer I’ll give you a shout Damien. I was out for a drive with my lad yesterday. We ended up at a destination near rothbury, I’ll not give location away. I noticed your mates barrow frame stashed- just thought I’d let you know incase he wasn’t sure it was visible. I’ll be down the wannie a fair bit this year, getting my permit so will probably bump into you at some point. I used to be a member for years(Dad was asistant head bailiff) but ended up leaving coz the poachers spoilt the Fishing- taking bags of fish at a time. Anyway- speak soon. John.
@Fell_Wanderer6 жыл бұрын
Davey didn't want the barrow so left it visible for anyone to take away. Poaching has always been a big problem on the Wannie, I see people spinning a lot which is not allowed so know they don't have permits. I don't fly fish much now so tend to fish the bark wood until june 1st. Maybe I'll see you along there beginning of the season, atb. Damian
