I remember, back when I was a teenager, I slept on a beach on Ios, one of the Greek Islands. There was no light pollution, so I was able to look up into a clear night sky, to see millions of stars. I had never seen so many in my life before and I was totally awestruck. I have never seen anything more beautiful since. Everyone should experience it, at least once in their life. God's glory , revealed in the Heavens.

My best experiences. Is in the BWCA during the wintertime. I will try to find a point on a frozen lake. With sparse trees. Up there, there is no light pollution ( which is very hard to find ). For some reason. I find that there are more stars during the wintertime. I also love to walk out in the middle of the frozen lake. With the 360-degree view. At those times. I am awestruck of the creator. Our heavenly Father. With his words. LET THERE BE. Thank you Steven for sharing that. Very awsome.

By the time I got all my knots undone I was drenched and everything was soaked. Thanks for any advice.

@AdventureswiththeMarine4 жыл бұрын
Good question! You can hang your pack and boots ( with the laces tied together ) on the end of your hammock, with carbiners. Most of the time. I will lie all of my gear, on a tarp underneath my hammock. Where it will be nice and dry. So far no critters. A few years ago. While hiking on a island in Lake Superior called: "Isle Royale" There was reports of a fox or foxes, stealing peoples boots. On that trip. I hung the boots. Thank you for watching L Q.

Great video! Really hit some major points of tarp pitching. We use them all regularly and you did wonderfully explaining them. Is that a Zpacks Hammock tarp with doors? It’s super transparent. We stealth camp 90% of time and for this reason i could never have a tarp that light of and color. I’ve sent an email to Zpacks asking if they would consider building one in Camo. Still waiting to hear 🤞 Hope you have a great day Marine and hope you staying strong. Big respect from my pups to yours ✊🏼 Thank you

I know. When i been researching hamochs and tarps, they are all advertising neon orange, green ect. I could never sleep in that! Too vulnerable at night for flashy colors. I found that subdued brown is best camo for wind breaker matterial. Woodland camo works... but subdued brown works the best. Hope that helped!

The tarp that I was using in the video is the Hammock Gear Winter Palace. It is a big tarp ( 11' X 10.4' if I where do it over again. I would of bought the 12' ) with doors. Dyneema Fiber is super light. But bulky. Dose not absorb water. You just shake the tarp and it just flies off. But very expensive. The transparent is great if you like to get up early in the morning. And on a rainy day. It is also great with a lot of light being transmitted underneath. For cooking, reading or playing cards with friends. But if you are looking for a stealth tarp. Then a camo, brown or olive is the way to go. Thank you TheHikingShibas and Frogman# for watching and sharing.

Backpacking With a Hammock Thanks Marine for the informative reply. I just had a gander over at Hammock gear and they do offer the palace tarp in Camo in 12 foot. I will give Zpacks some more time to reply if they would consider making their hammock tarp with doors in Camo for me, since i already own a Duplex in Camo, Arc Haul backpack and 10F Solo quilt from them. I like to stick with one company (when i can) when they make such quality gear. I’d like to continually support small cottage companies. I feel they notice that and i tend to get better quality customer support when i have specific questions and requests. I agree too about DCF i love my duplex with the DCF material. I just shake it off and pack it up. My ENO House fly is great with all the options i put on it like dutchware clip-on pull outs and shock cord loops on all guy points using Ringworms and zingit guylines which are all permantly attached to the stakes. Here is the downfall though on the ENO, it weigh 28 ounces (dry) in its mesh snakeskin and i haven’t weighed it in the morning after a rain but when i pack it up when it’s wet, i can image this silnylon is weighing closer to 3.5 pounds when it’s saturated . As far as the packability, this does not bother me in the slightest because the Duplex lives on the outside of my pack (usually right on top) and the Tarp in snakeskin lives curled up in the big mesh Pocket on the outside of the Arc Haul 👍🏼 with the two pups i hike with, we like to camp comfortably and give them the large full coverage shelter of the House Fly to the pups, while I’m in the Duplex. Upgrading to a DCF Hammock Tarp with doors with save me so much weight and still give my kids full coverage 👍🏼 yeah it’s $550 vs the $80 i paid for the ENO on sale . The way i look at it though, i use my gear so much that it’s worth the investment. If we camped once or twice a year the ENO is fine. But we camp outside once or twice a week outside for fun. Also key for our Thru hike next summer on the CT 🙌. Sorry rambling on Marine. I love Hammock camping a lot and go one for days about it. Thanks again for all your great content you do for us! You’re one of my top 5 favorite KZbin channels and the friendliest Marine i’ve never met. Hope to see you on trial one day! Live Life & Stay Strong Marine 🙏

Backpacking With a Hammock so i heard back from Zpacks negatively on my request but also came with some interesting news i thought i share: “Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the Camo Material. As of now, the Camo has been discontinued and we will not be restocked. We will however be getting several new colors in July. Burnt Orange .75oz, Sand .75oz, and White .55oz. We apologize for the inconvenience.” So i guess Hammock Gear and I will be the big winner with a 12ft Camo Palace! It’s a hefty tag but i do use my gear so much it’s worth the investment. I figure, I’ll have to pack up my wet 4 pound Silnylon tarp a handful more times before i convince myself of the benefit 🤪 i also realized that the Zpacks Hammock Tarp with Doors is more comparable to the Hammock Gear Standard Tarp with Doors. The Palace Tarp seems one of a kind in size 😮 I hope some of that info was interesting for you and i do hope you having a good day sir. Thank you

You don't have the 360 degree view. But when it is very windy. That is a great way to block the wind. You will have to tie it out on the stakes of the other side panel.
