The only thing that sucks more than packing up is packing twice. Or three times. Just the solution that I was looking for, having two dogs with me. Yes they can both lay with me in the hammock, but I've always wanted them to be comfortable on the ground also. It's definitely got some size to it, which makes it better than my hammock tarps with winter doors. I wanted to just check my math: This tent is 6.2 feet at the top point, so I’ll need the 3 meter pipe? Will I need to cut it down or would the 3 foot+ above the tent be ok? Will the T1 stove jack fit this tent’s stove jack hole? If not, where could I get the proper stove jack? This setup is the coolest thing I have seen. Thanks for your work. These trips you record are amazing.
@Lonewolfwildcamping3 жыл бұрын
The tent comes with 2 jacks and I am currently using the t1 with av2 meter pipe . 24 inches above peak is optimal
@onebadboy23 жыл бұрын
@@Lonewolfwildcamping We only have soft woods out west, where I am. Would that make a difference, in your opinion? Would that factor into whether you’d go with the 3m or do you think the 2m pipe is still fine? I could go with the 3m and cut it back to hit that 24” you recommend.
@Lonewolfwildcamping3 жыл бұрын
Soft woods produce significantly more sparks and embers, so I would use caution. And too long of a pipe will get bent from wind.
@onebadboy23 жыл бұрын
@@Lonewolfwildcamping And Wyoming is known for a lot of wind. :). Of course I’d try sheltering out of it and will also guy out the spark arrestor (but not too tightly). So how tall is the T1 stove with it’s legs extended to the damper from the ground? Will that get me close to the 24” mark above a 6.2’ tall tent such as this hammock shelter you just reviewed? I think it might get the 2m pipe over or close to that mark on this tent. I most certainly appreciate your patience and expertise. Lots of wind and soft wood too. Want to make the smartest move possible without chancing a fatal collapse.

Hey, congrats on getting the hammock hot tent idea going with OneTigris. Looks great, roomy and seemed to perform above expectations in staying warm. Dinner looked good in the wok, but (being a carnivore) I would have added chicken, beef, pork, or even eggs (for a breakfast take on the recipe). 2-night stays: Yes! Do it. I go on day trips to explore and take notes. I "like" overnighters, because it's a quick getaway. But, 2-nights away, is golden. I prefer finding a spot and planting myself there to fully relax and enjoy. A 2-night option is also to cover a large area of terrain, camping at one spot for a night, then moving forward and camping at a second spot to finish the trip. Lots of possibilities, depending on the trip and goals. Again, solid videography and focal points which makes your productions very enjoyable to watch as you explore and share with us. Peace, my friend. Pete - KI7LIL

What are the specs on that hammock hot tent from One Tigris? (length, width, wall height, etc). In the production version, I would suggesting 3 zipper sliders on the door. This will allow the hammock suspension to to easily exit through the door and be adjusted as needed. It will also give an easy entry and exit method for either end.

Great video! Is the tarp custom made for stove jack? I have been looking for tarp with wood stove and hammock camping

I really wish you wouldn't post videos of awesome new hot tents while I'm still debating on which tent to buy for my first one. This one is sick. Kind of crazy how the roof/sidewalls stay straight without a frame. Will be interesting to see how well it holds up in rain or snow. And as far as your multi-night videos, you may even want to do a multi-night hike instead of staying at the same location. That way you can show the thought process on weight decisions and having to adapt to unknown locations when you arrive at your next stop (water, etc.) Awesome tent though, man. You're about one step away from having your own line of gear.

Just started watching this and really cool...you are just setting your stove up now. I am thinking to myself you are gonna bake being op so high!
@Lonewolfwildcamping4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, definitely warm for the stove. But that's the idea for in the winter is hang high and stay warm

@@Lonewolfwildcamping yep I agree! I am used to laying on the ground, of course closed cell pad and a insulated air mat. I love how you say there are the doers and the watchers I agree so much. I have no problem with the watchers as I love watching your videos but I try to get out at least every other weekend. It is rainy here in Wisconsin, USA changing to snow and but I will be out tomorrow

Lonewolf, out of curiousity how much was your pack weight on this trip? Really neat to see how much you've carried on these trips. I have done a number of winter hiking trips, but haven't winter base camped yet which looks like so much fun (i.e. Hot tent for a hammock)!
@Lonewolfwildcamping4 жыл бұрын
Not a lightweight hike. At least 40lbs but well worth it

@@Lonewolfwildcamping I do a bit of base camping during the spring and fall, but would love to eventually try out a hot tent experience! Looks great for deep winter weather moment

Hey just an idea but maybe it would be cool if you did like a blast from the past kinda thing and role played like a frontiersman. Minimal gear like you're prospecting new land in the Canadian wilderness. You don't have to go strait colonial but maybe same platforms but modern versions of the gear. Just thinking out loud lol. Maybe we can start an idea thread here with all the subscribers, what y'all think?!

Might be interesting in a future video

@@Lonewolfwildcamping you do a damn good job capturing the purity of nature I figured it might be fun for ya to do an "untouched land" kinda thing! Cinematography wise I think you got the best style for something like that!
