Welcome aboard brother! My setup consists of an 11’, Hexon 1.6 Dutchware Chameleon hammock and Warbonnet Thunder Fly tarp Becket Hitch suspension and various quilts. In case you wanted to know what works for me.😁 I’m gonna have to check out Jason at Walhalla Hammocks. Thanks for the video and I hope you enjoy your evolution. 👍🏼

Height and shoulder width are big factors in hammock camping. Taller you are the longer you need it. Wider you are the wider it needs to be and you might prefer a bridge style like I do. I tried a few and settled on the ridgerunner but there are a few others. Bridge does add about a pound over the reg hammock due to the poles; you can get carbon ones though.

Yes! Glad to see you are gonna give hammocking a try. It's my fav way to sleep while backpacking. Is my hammock setup a few ounces heavier than my ground setup? Yes. Is it worth it? Again, yes. I sleep like a baby, vs my back spasming on every mat I have tried. I've been eyeing Dutch and Superior's insulated hammocks to get my setup even more dialed in.

Appreciate you watching this video. Thanks for the encouragement. Yeah, lots to learn in this process. After meeting Jason, I trust him with my choices on it. He really works with people to make sure they get what they need in a hammock. ✌️

I bought multiple cheap hammocks on Amazon trying out different features before I spent a decent amount on a hammock with the features I wanted. Possibly the next time I upgrade it will be to a hammock with an integrated underquilt.

Been hangin for years and have no plans to go back to tents. For the very few times that I can't hang my hammock, I sewed 550-cord loops to the bottom corners for stakes.

Good idea on cord loops. Thanks for watching this. ✌️

It’s a learning curve but trust me…. Take your time and do it right. Try different Hammocks. It’s honestly the best part and when you get it you’ll know it. I’m 53 also and I’ll never go back to a tent. I plan trips FOR the Hammock to go 😂
