It's a major reason why Deep Purple became so popular instantly! I still don't understand the simple concept of most bands...Dudes! You need harmony (for you illiterates, that means more than one singer) and a well rounded band, meaning and instrument sother than 3 dirty -haired skinny luzers all strumming away on over amp'd electric guitars. Making great music is coming, long live A.I.

Not to be funny, but I built in a straightforward tube preamp in my Hammond A100 chop - integrated into the AO28 - and it does all of this without pedals. From the lightest shimmer to absolutely full-on Jon Lord mayhem. The trick is simply to drive each tube in the entire chain (including those in my Leslie142) just that bit harder, and it cascades into glorious overdrive 🤘😀🤘

This is one of my favorite instruments of all time, love the sound how it’s both electric but also has the mechanic feel to it you just don’t get with synths, love it both clean and the old recording technique where it’s kinda blurring in the background. Anyone who wants to share their favorite song with hammond organ, feel free to do so My favorites are - Arthur Brown - Fire, Birth Control - Gamma Ray live 1973, The Work is Done, No Drugs, and anything else from Operation album, Mind Garage - Tobacco Road cover, In A gadda Da Vida of course, Öoooooo - Fucking Freaking Futile Freddy I wonder if there’s any metal with this out there. Like, Cannibal Corpse with hammond organ sounds like pretty rad idea to me.

This was a very good attempt at ultra dirty overdrive. But, your Hammond is well maintained and very clean sounding. There are Tone Wheel artifacts that take the sound much deeper and dirtier. Imitating an organ/Leslie overdrive that is just shy of burnout. Most all the digital Hammonds have these artifacts built-in to the sampling and can be called up, as desired. This is naturally available with well-worn Hammond/Leslie pairings. Here is a list of some of those loved artifacts (Tonewheel leakage, capacitor leakage, power supply hum and leakage, transformer magnetic hum, wiring harness insulation degradation, burnt resistors, bad tubes, leaky rectifier tubes, magnetic induction between speakers and Tonwheel pickup coils, degradation of percussion Capacitors and more. For a good example of what many of these authentic (and loved), artifacts; listen to Keith Emerson's 17 min. live version of "America" (from Westside Story), when he was with "The Nice" (before ELP). [In which he also throws the cover off a grand piano and plays the piano strings with drum sticks!] Enjoy and learn! PS: forget the one tube pedals. Get a mult-tube Preamplifier and seriously overdrive it to an inch of its life! ❤️

What kind of amp you use? Why do you need the reverb pedal? Does the reverb sound better than the reverb built in Organ? Like the OD.
@SjoerdHammond7 жыл бұрын
E Rock The amp is a Leslie 251. It has 2 extra speakers on the sides for the reverb. The organ reverb is phenominal, but the part in the leslie that controls those reverb speakers is broken. I can still use the reverb trough the treble rotor but the organ is connected trough the GG outputs on the AO-28 which allows for better sound quality but cancels out the possibility for reverb through the leslie. So that's why I use a Holy Grail in the FX loop. The reverb is really good, not a really big difference, though the build in reverb will always be the best

Can you describe your effects loop please? I'm working on adding one to an M3 and wondering if I'll need to step the signal down from whatever comes out of the amp to instrument level for use with guitar pedals. I'm not going to use the RCA spot but I think it will be fairly equivalent.
@SjoerdHammond7 жыл бұрын
D Clipper Well i bought a fx loop from trek II instrument lvl. All I had to do was wire it correctly as described in the instructions. That's it. But I have one specially made for a100 organs. The M3 is a different machine so it's really different. The RCA in the a100 gives really high quality sound and I can switch between the organ speakers or leslie.
@SjoerdHammond7 жыл бұрын
D Clipper I had to wire a specific way that is probably unique to the a100/c3/b3 models. A M3 does not have the same electronics

I get the rotation effect (to an extent) but i barely get any distortion, it is almost hard to notice even with the drive knob turned to the max. Do you maybe know the soulution to my problem? Do I need an effects loop? How do I connect it? Thank you for your anwers

My father and I picked up a Hammond C2 and a Leslie 45 with a 400 watt head. We got the super overdrive without any pedals, just the output coming from the organ. I should've recorded it, it sounded killer. The head we were using that came with it was a solid state, we then switched to using a traynor tube guitar head.

While I Love, Love, Love this sample, I prefer the straight-up Hammond sound that Laurens Hammond invented. Many church organists do as well, and Booker T Jones(who I think is one of the BEST Hammond players), of "Booker T. And The M.G.s fame," said in an interview once that that's the secret of his sound. The absolute BEST Hammond Rock sound I can think of was Rick Wakeman's solo on Yes' "Roundabout"- it is pretty much straight, just loud as Heck. When you can play that good, you need to be able to make out what you're playing. Note: both Booker T. Jones and Rick Wakeman have huge hands with long, tapering fingers - perfect "Ivory tinkling" hands.
