Thank you from a new kelly kettle trecker user. This is the only video that covered all the information needed with using kelly kettle with pellets, what is the best kind of pellets to use and indoor use with the little canned burner for boiling water. Very nice demonstration.

Hi Mick, Just used a very fine piece of stainless steel mesh that we use for making toast in Australia on a campfire. Identically just like yours to make it just above the ventilation hole and boy did it work well. One small cup from the base station kit boiled the water (1.6 liters of cold water) in 6 minutes and lasted with good heat for 30 minutes to cook on. Using the same oak pallets that you did there was only one teaspoon of very fine ash left after the burn was completed. Kelly kettles being a survival stove should give this serious thought as an option I would pay good money for this option. In a wet survival situation, they should really think of alternative fuels. Cheers Zac.

Thank you so much for this video. I was wanting to know if a spirit burner with the hobo stove (I already have a Kelly Kettle) would work, rather than buying a full new kit.

Love Kelly kettles, but for me a bit bulky .especially if there's no dry stuff around, and considering I alway carry a gas stove for emergency ie .incase the weather changes .Great when you need a quick cuppa ,but not for tabbing a few miles to a camp .so twig box for me ..I'm in Peterborough and the camping areas are very few .and inconsiderate people leave a mess every where .one question! What's your pet hate whilst out camping etc! ?..Great video BTW..loving your content ..God bless you and your family and happy camping 🏕 🙏 😊. Lee

Since you asked what we'd like to see, I have seen some people use the newer version of the pot support to cook over the firebase (without the kettle) instead of the hobo stove. Do you think you could do a comparison for cook times using this method versus the hobo stove? I'm trying to decide which kit to get and wasn't sure if I should pay extra for the hobo stove and carry the extra weight if the pot support is pretty close to performance of the hobo stove. Also, I don't know if you have a trekker and one of the bigger versions, but if I'm not worried too much about kettle capacity, does the firebase size make a big difference in ease and time to cook if preparing meals for larger groups. Say 5+ people.

the Kelly Kettle is the king of boiling however the cook set is also very good as a cooker with the hobo stove but it is a little bit of an art to use it for large meals it works just takes a bit of practice and planning always over estimate the amount of fuel you will need and take the time to prep it , have fun take care be safe and enjoy your adventures mick out

Great video Mick. Answered my questions. I am off to make a fine grill to put the Oak pellets on. Do you use a Bush saw (Folding) to make a shelter? I am looking for a good quality 1.
