Baofeng DM1801 - OpenGD77 Radio Feature Walk through

Thanks for your time helping us with this radio. I just bought this radio to catch some of my neighboring County's calls hopefully I can figure out how to actually program it😂 Now i just have to wait for a power adapter 😪 since baofeng decided to send a EU power transformer for the states

Hi Ham Radio Dude, this was a very helpful video! I have 2 questions: 1. Does the backlight remain on when receiving transmissions? On the Tidradio TD-H6, it does, and there seems to be no way to change this setting. 2. Do you know if the Tidradio TD-H6 is a rebranded Baofeng DM-1801? Thank you!

Hello, the Tidradio TD-H6 looks like a rebranded DM1801, but does not appear to have DMR capabilities. I will say as far as the setting goes for the backlight, I am not certain. However, try this: Menu -Radio Setting - Backlight - and then you should have options for 5s, 10s, 15s (if it is anything like the dm1801 as far as the menu goes). Best of luck!

Can you tell me which radio you think is better between this baofeng and the GD77? Looking for something to monitor both bands at the same time. A few analog VHF channels and a couple of UHF DMR channels. Thanks

Essentially the same. Strong irreverence to the gd77 for two reasons: support should be easier to obtain if there is an issue and custom firmware is more developed on the gd77

Can anybody tell me how well this radio or the radioddity GD 77 work on commercial repeaters? The anytone lockup on some commercial repeaters

I haven't had any issue with the either this or the radio oddity locking up and I use it on several repeaters

Yes. Menu, options, band limits ----- set to off. That should do it

Great question. I don't know if they have implemented that yet. your best bet is to check out opengd77.com and check the forums. It appears it could be done in the CPS but on the fly changes via FPP, I'm not too sure. Sorry I couldn't be of further help.

I have the baofeng dm1801 I did the firmware opon gd77 Everything works great but now I cant tx on FRS OR GMRS NOW WITH THIS FIRMWARE I PUT TO THE DM1801 SAID OUT OF BAD

There is an option in the settings to enable extended tx. I don't have the radio with me, but if you change that setting, you should be good

Actually it back may say "out of band tx" and it should be on.

@@HAMRADIODUDE Your welcome. To be honest it is a bit confusing this new version. It would also be good should you do another how to, show how you can back up the EPROM as well as a few other things should you ever want to go back to the original Baofeng firmware. From my reading once the radio is flashed should you crate a new code plug you won't be able to back up the EPROM for it to work on the original firmware. The backup has to be the first thing you do after flashing the radio with the new firmware. I found my self reading for several hours. Someone who has done this recently would be helpful stream lining everything that needs to be done including the need to go back to the original firmware.

Sad the dm1801 is dead. Now. They have these shitty dr1801 which you can't even program
