My hamster was the same way with chewing and how I fixed it was I took his favorite treat and blended it up with a little water them spread it all over the chew then wiped it all off so the sent was still there it worked wonders hope this helps!

Heyy! Just as an advice from my personal experience. Make sure that if u out sand like that I’m sure bedding will get in it as burrows/digs. Cuz when I first got sand I put it just like u did and trust it was a big mistake. When my hamster would dig in sand the sand will be all over the cage or A BUNCH of bedding gets in it and yeah.. I recommend using a small like box or anything where u can put sand and then yk the bedding is like at the level of the box(or even a bit lower) so that u don’t get bedding in it or sand all over the cage. Hope this helps!

Full clean outs, or cleaning out more than a third of bedding. Next time maybe just replace a section every week or two until the whole cage is the brown color. You should also use some nontoxic School glue and glue on some reptile or hamster moss into the cracks of the bendable bridges so that lambs won’t get caught. Also you could get away with putting much more bedding into the brown section. I also don’t know how big that wheel is, but if it’s only a 6.5 inch, I would recommend an 8 inch wheel. No wheel is to big as long as the hamster can control it.

a tip for chew toys! spread a very very thin layer of peanut butter on her toy and she should love it! make sure to only use a really tiny bit and not do it really often because it’s not super healthy for them. you do want to make sure she is chewing on stuff regularly because those incisors (front teeth) of hers will get really really long and can cause major discomfort and other issues in the future. other than that you’re doing great and cream puff looks really happy!!

hi! so as a hamster owner you did say you would change it every month and great job on keeping some of the bedding and only spot cleaning but hammys are very teratorial animals i think i said that wrong lol but even changing the "furniture" can stress them out a great deal and the reaso she comes out in those times is because hamms are nocturnal and sleep in the day and are VERY active at night hope this helps someone also their are lots of youtube vids on what hamsters like and dislike

That is so cute. I went to the dollar tree and found a long bin that might have held spaghetti so I put mine at the end of the cage for their sand. That way I can clean that out weekly. It starts out clean but both girls use their sand after they have fun bathing in it with new and clean then they will wind up using it for their potty too. I also got long plastic bins at Target. They are see through so my chihuahua absolutely is in love with them and as soon as she hears their hamster wheels going she comes out to see them. Thanks for all the ideas.

Love this but just a few concerns on your comment! Do you have 2 hamsters in 1 cage? If so, that is very dangerous they can fight and possibly kill each other! Get them seperrate cages. Also make sure your not cleaning all the bedding out weekly it stresses hamsters out. Clean only some of the yucky parts out at a time. Also make sure your dog is away from your hamsters it could stress them out! I hope I don't seem like a Karen I just want your hamster(s?) to live a happy life!

Tip! If you still have those wimsy chews for Cream puff try smudging a bit of peanut butter on her chew and rinsing or wiping it off, Cream puff will most likely smell the peanut butter and chew at it!

I love the set-up! It looks so fun and happy! I have a few suggestions though: I would recommend expanding her burrow space and adding more bedding ( I know when sloping bedding it can be difficult but I would try to add a couple more inches) I would suggest adding a cork log or some grapevine wood somewhere because that adds a bit of a naturalistic look And my final suggestion is to add another hideout in the sand area so she has some privacy. Other than that I think your cage looks great! 🐹

Hey, I have a few tips for you to make your hamster happier . I would upgrade to slightly bigger cage .Add a multi chamber hidey .Take out the blue bedding and just put sand in it ( kinda just wastes space for the hamster) .Add more of the natural bedding (recommend 8 inches but need atleast 6) . Since she doesn't have like 850+ inches of space I recommend not putting anything in where it's just for decoration since that is only pleasant for you and not the hamster . Add maybe a cork log or grape vine log This wasn't to be mean for someone tips to make your hamster happier, I think you are doing a great job

@Cornmac is Backroom they still need s lot of enrichment and Big stuff in the wild robos have the same amount as a Syrian and I know from experience that robos tend to love to borrow out of all the species of hamsters and appreciate the natural theme a lot.

@Cornmac is Backroom ALL hamsters need deep bedding, a large cage and a LOT of enrichment REGARDLESS of their species or size. It does not matter, Every hamster needs 6-10 inches of bedding. I have two tiny hamsters and they have the same bedding depth, enrichment quality and quality of life as my two bigger hamsters. She did mention since her hamster is tiny, but she is wrong in thinking that means they need less bedding. ALL hamsters should be able to burrow. As well as this, there is no such thing as hamster breeds, only hamster species. And all species of hamsters need bedding AND sand, not more sand than bedding. She has done research, but needs to do a bit more so she can improve on her hamster care. Please do your research before commenting as well.

Just make sure that the prey animals are in an area where your other animals cant reach them. My dogs love to watch our hamsters, which they can freely do without getting close to them, we are fixing to upgrade their cages, because we are going to be building a massive cage shelf to put in our living room for them. They are Robos and will each have their own 3ft long by 2 foot wide cage to live in, which is massive for a dwarf hamster. There will be 3 cages and the other one will be for our Winter White Dwarf when we get it. But making the cages, with a glass front, so the dogs can watch them if they want too, but not in anyway be able to reach high enough to get them. Also, our hamsters arent afraid of our dogs and one of them actually finds enjoyment out of taunting our Mini Dachshund.

I love the end result! But I would recommend that you add a lot more bedding on both the blue and brown side. I would also get a plat form, cork logs, grape vines and a water bowl instead of water bottle since its more natural. 💚
