Hamsters dont live super long. 2 years is the average life span and Vanilla was almost 3 if not already 3 years old.

To all who ask: Has vanilla died? Yes he died 3 months ago on July 1 and the owner of the channel said the reason for this response on the community: (He suddenly became ill one day, so I took him to the vets where it turned out he had a respiratory illness (basically pneumonia). The vet gave us antibiotics, but he went downhill very fast and sadly passed two days later in my hands. Prey animals are very good at hiding their symptoms and by the time they appear ill, it can unfortunately be too late to treat them. If you hold your hamster up to your ear in a silent room and listen very closely and there is a little clicking sound as they breathe, this is a warning sign and you should take them to the vets immediately. I wish I had known this 😩💔 Hopefully this information can help others. Please listen closely to your hamster every day.)

Thank you for the info! Sadly hamster life spans are short and Vanilla was two years old when he passed which is actually quite old. I appreciate that his owner still uploads cute things about him. He will live on in our hearts.
