Lots of good advice in what you say. There's also a little danger in learning more ... e.g. the value of new additions like hot-spots becomes apparent & dilutes the bank account 😊 -- a semi-retired newbie

My 1st time on DMR using the swcluster i had someone telling me i was doing it wrong. I wasn't giving my call sign and saying back to you after each over! It sounds stupid but it put me right off and I've not bothered again.

I'm 57 and I retired in June. Try to get a good walk most days. Lots of new people coming on the radio. Most end up on DMR around here. It's getting so cheap, we have several repeaters and it's where everyone is

So true. In a few days I've learnt how to do codeplugs for my rt3s .... also have the rt90. Just takes time and understanding. This game is a learning game. I'm only at it a year and I've learnt so much through yourself so thanks for that. Yes I walk away from it at times. But I'm always drawn back. So thanks for that. MI7NBR. Paul.
