Hanabie (pron. "Ha-na-bee-eh") started as a cover band playing songs by the Japanese band Maximum the Hormone (who you totally need to check out if you haven't seen them). Yukina: cute and growl vocals Matsuri: guitar and clean/melodic vocals Hettsu: bass and additional vocals Sae: Drums (since left and replaced by Chika) Fantastic band. My second favourite band after Nemophila. In fact, they are very, very nearly in equal first place for me.

Hanabie = Han-ah-bee-eh = Harajukucore = 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Japanese all-female metal nirvana. So far, after two albums, an EP, four singles and two epic covers, they haven’t missed. They have a social conscience and their music is not some kind of corporate produced throwaway eccentricity, they are very much the real deal. They also happen to be phenomenal live. I love most bands in the genre, some are draw dropping as you’ve seen, but these girls deliver like none other.

Welcome to *Harajuku-core!* That's the expected reaction Hanabie (Ha-na-be-eh) refer to their particular style as Harajukucore, named after the Harajuku district, that inspires their look and music. Harajuku is famous for its fashion, shops, music, and art scene. Harajukucore is an energetic mix of metal, electronic, rock, punk, rap, pop, +. They even incorporate traditional Japanese instruments into their songs, as well. The members are Matsuri - guitar, vocals, compositions. Yukina - growls/clean vocals. Hettsu - bass, backing vocals. Chika - drums and newest member. Here's a few song recommendations for you - 'Be the GAL - early summer ver.', 'NEET GAME', 'Envy', 'Reiwa Dating Apps Generation', 'Tousou' (run away). Hanabie is now gaining a lot of attention outside of Japan. Of the Japanese female bands, they are getting up there with Lovebites and Band-Maid when it comes to international fans. Nemophila has lost a bit of momentum, but they will recover. I will be seeing Hanabie live for the first time in a few weeks when I see them with Jinjer (which is one of my favorite bands). I saw Lovebites live a week ago, Nemophila live last year, and Band-Maid live in 2022. This was the first Hanabie video I saw when I discovered them (and not all THAT much more was available at the time) and at first I was not 100% sure what to make of the vocals because there is so much layering of Yukina's various voices mixed in so I had to see something live by them and when I did, I was impressed. Yukina is an amazing metal front-person! Not only because her vocals are awesome but also because of the imense energy this little fireball brings to the stage. I actually saw them live in a small club when they came to Germany and was impressed again. Extremely tight band, great performance and I was especially impressed with Matsuri's singing. As opposed to a lot of other singers (especially the not-lead singers) you hear, I never heard her sing a single note wrong, even in parts where there is no music playing to latch on to. very impressive!

They started out as a cover band playing Maximum the Hormone songs (MTH is an extremely popular & influential older band in Japan - chek em out). Yukina is a 4.10 beast of a vocalist. Haha XD "What is happening!!!".... Hanabie :) The pronunciation is a little tricky to get right, so Hanabie made a video explaining it :D kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKOthpqhra6fi9E Yukina - most of the Kawaii vocals, some rap, and the unclean vocals, basically a under 5 foot Gremlin. Hettsu - Bass and very occasional vocals (and very very occasionally exploding... but that's to come) Matsuri - Lead guitar, clean vocals, and quite a bit of the composition. Chika - Drums Sae - Ex drummer, but was the drummer in this video. They actually have 4 mvs that have a vaguely connected plot and recurring character / actor. 1. Pardon Me, I Have To Go Now kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKapk4RjgsqqnNk 2. Tousou (Run away) kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGrGdGWVi5x9rac 3. Be The Gal kzbin.info/www/bejne/noXYgaqMjq2Wla8 4. Girls Talk kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJW9d3eXeM-EZtk But they have loads of other great songs. A few more with good mvs as well. Unfortunately there are not many lives of them with good audio. So just go for whatever seems interesting to you, or whatever gets requested the most, or whatever method you have :D And now! One more band suggestion, I was waiting to see if you liked Hanabie first. So this Japanese band is fronted by 4 women singers, but the musicians are guys. For me personally, I feel they are kind of like Hanabie, but with a load of drugs added. Broken By The Scream - Sayonara Birthday mv kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2nUgHtjm5uXpa8 Obviously it's a matter of taste, but for me Lovebites, Band-Maid, Hanabie, Nemophila and Broken By The Scream are the tippy top.

They are special. Totally unique. Original three friends from school (Yukina, Matsuri and Hettsu) that liket do play Maximum the Hormone songs. They have had several drummers, even male. Personally I really like the previous one, Sae. She is playing on this video. She has a very good swing, you can feel the syncopation. The new one, Chica is also good, but she is more of a pure metal drummer, full speed ahead. Hanabie is best viewed with their MV. They are soo fun and soo well made. Here is a list of my gavorites: * Ado * Be that gal * NEET game * OTAKU Lovely Densetsu * Pardon me. I have to go now * Reiwa * We love sweets They also have a bunch of audio only songs that are very good. Its a bit hit and miss to look at live ones. Its fun, of course. But it is generally low quality and the fun of the MV is not there. Visiting their live concert is said to be great fun though. Dipping your toes into the Japanese rabbithole, eh? Better jump right in at the deep end and doing Hanabie, Nemophila and LOVEBITES is an excellent start! Japan is virtually overflowing with exciting bands reshaping rock/metal/pop as they play. And they are not afraid of adding several visual layers to their performances often making fun of themselves, to great effect. And I haven't even begun talking about the musicianship... It is ot of this world. Nothing is done half-assed, everyone - and I really mean everyone - involved are class acts at their craft. Yes, these girls write their own songs. Guitarist Matsuri is a smart composer, and by the way, her father is a metal musician. Growler Yukina is the author of the lyrics. The lyrics are not simple, by the way, usually about the problems of society.

@@dejzmi7089 Yes, her parents sent her to an additional guitar school at the age of 6. These girls are now 25 years old. But they have been together for 10 years, since the school group. They performed, released a couple of albums, two years ago they graduated from university and moved to the Sony Music label. Now they are almost always on tour By the way, they have insanely bright and strange costumes - for photographers it is a treasure.

With Hanabie you have now met probably the best metal band from Japan at the moment. With their combinations of different (sub)genres and styles, Hanabie have founded their own metalcore subgenre, Harajukucore. If you want to hear how Harajukucore started, I recommend the L.C.G music video, where Hanabie mixed a lot of different things together perfectly for the first time. To hear the perfect pronunciation of Hanabie (Hah - Nah - Bee - Eh with four syllables), simply copy and paste 花冷え。 into Google Translate and have the word read to you, nothing could be easier or faster.
