A canção Hanagasa Ondo é um minyo que nasceu durante o trabalho de aterro.
O trabalho braçal exigia força de muitas pessoas que precisavam erguer uma grande pedra amarrada com cordas e deixá-la cair várias e várias vezes até conseguir compactar a terra.
Com o passar do tempo, a música virou tema de festivais, sendo hoje um símbolo da província de Yamagata.
