Utaite aren't vocaloids. That's actually what makes this so amazingly great. Because of vocaloids artists like these can create amazing music completely independently without needing huge budgets or anything and release them to the public and then these wonderful singers take that music and make it even more amazing leaving us with something truly special that just doesn't happen much at all with anything else.

I never said that utaite are vocaloids. I believe the original song is with Miku Hatsune and I'd probably haven't heard about this song if it weren't for Hanathan. As a fan of doujin music I know that difference and regularly see Utaites collaborating with doujin music circles, though I have absolutely no interest in vocaloid music, with a few exceptions.

It's hard to tell sometimes. A lot of people don't really know the difference. I think that difference is important since, as I said, they've created something amazing working between the two of them. And while I listen to almost no vocaloid originals, thanks to the utaite combined with this music there is so much amazing music I can listen to every day I just don't know what to do with it all. I can't even tell you how picky I am when it comes to music, so this is a godsend to me and I think it could be great for everyone. (Heck, even people who refuse to listen to anything in another language can find English singers like JubyPhonic.)

Everyone has a different music taste. while I absolutely hate it when people call all Japanese songs "anime music", I do respect the variety of genres, singers and styles. I am picky too, but I am open to every kinds of music. That's why I think it's important as a fan to spread and support the artists, especially the non-professionals as most Utaites and doujin music producers are. I understand why doujin music producers like Marasy (I can name you a lot of other artists I listen to regularly too) use vocaloid because finding a real singer is difficult sometimes and vocaloid became somewhat a cult, Utaites build a bridge between talented singers and talented music producers. If you ever run out of music I'd recommend you to look into the Touhou music scene. Lots of independent artists, lots of Utaite who take part there too. Even Hanatan (aka YURiCa) is pretty popular if you look in circles like Sound Holic. A lot of genres (from folks to metal/electro/r&b/rock-pop/orchestral/classical/etc) are represented in this scene and while it's somewhat similar to the Utaite/Vocaloid scene, it's a whole different world imo.

If it helps people any, when you want to know the title of something like this, pop the kanji/hiragana/katakana into the Google Translate box. While it will give you the translation on the right, if you look below the box on the left it gives you the romaji. Though you have to watch out since it also converts the romaji to pronounciation (the most common problem being "ou" becoming "ō".) It's not perfect, but it gets the job done.
