Herbie Hancock is a true piano and keyboard GENIUS, but Terri Lyne Carrington is a straight up BEAST on those drums!!! She's the finest drummer on Earth and her pocket groove is UNTOUCHABLE. She brings the funk like Clyde Stubblefield and Jabo Starks from the James Brown band. I love, love, love her!!!

Me too .. although I haven't heard too many live recordings of this UTTERLY BRILLIANT composition. Typically for Herbie, he just flows at this Knitting Factory venue ZEUS, but the man's an absolute GENIUS:. SO exciting? How many players could manage to come even NEAR him?

Terri Lyne is indeed very good, but surely it's Mike Clarke who's playing on this 1974 take of Chameleon? It certainly LOOKS like him, and surely Terri Lyne's simply TOO YOUNG to have participated that early?

Makes it feel very cheesy but for the time it makes sense. Herbie has always been incorporating “new” sounds into his work and during the early 2000’s every act had some sort of dj/turntableist.

I hate the fact that the bass player almost ruined this jam with that six-string bass. This Classic required a standard 4-string Fender Jazz Precision bass for the ultimate tonal experience. This poor kid has no clue what Fusion is.
