Hand Checkering and a Talk on Custom work vs Mass Production

Spending money on luxury products, like firearms, can always be a tough choice for some folks. one of the most asked questions I get is 'why is it work spending X amount of money on you when I can just buy a gun for Y?'
I think the answer is always: so you can get what you want. I treat a lot of my work as functional art pieces. me spending 12 hours checkering a gun doesn't make it more practical, but it does make it more beautiful and feel unique compared to the laser checkered and press checkered mass production guns.
The rifle in the thumbnail is the same firearm as pictured in the video just prior to me beginning checkering. I like to seal the barrel channel with epoxy so there is less movement and point of impact shift in differing weather. The painters tape gives me just enough clearance for an effective free float without leaving an unsightly gap.

There is something really fun about watching an artist work. I wouldn’t mind seeing some more videos where you go into the specific details of the work, and maybe get some close up shots, different camera angles and whatnot. Like a whole documentary sort of thing. I’m sure it would be a pain and somewhat get in the way of your work though, and it’s not what people are paying you to do.

@HiganbanaRifleman I try to, but honestly, I've been letting myself get behind shooting videos. I have a couple of videos coming up on dealing with some drill and tap jobs I've done. Not on the woodwork, but interesting nonetheless.
