Thanks for your time! My advise to develop a "good" speed, is starting slow by doing uncomfortable hand exercises! Those your hands aren't used to. As mr Kalani said, there are no shortcuts on this! It will take time until those I'd say, lazy muscles and tendons awake! Speed isn't all! Harmony and rhythm are often more important.

I started by counting flowing sets of four, for 4/4 and related rhythms, and flowing sets of three for 6/8 and related rhythms, using the pulse. Now at my higher speeds I cannot count that fast, and can only use the pulse to keep timing

Great video.. would point out a great tip...if you do a few minutes of this just before sleep...your brain will process it more efficiently and you can gain speed faster😁😁

Tell that to one's neighbors if one shares wall space. Lol. But from a scientific standpoint you are correct.

Time and swing are more important Speed is overrated!
@lestrum5 жыл бұрын
In a sense yes. Depends on the environment one is playing in. Many drum circles turn into all out and one needs the speed to keep up. In terms of accompaniment, timing, feel, and finesse, as you imply are more vital. Swing also depends on the composition.

Traditionally, there are pieces that are just supposed to be played fast. For these just keeping accompaniment can be tough enough

Not all the Songs are slow , so you need to speed up sometimes.
@anonagain4 жыл бұрын
If the speed in a circle gets too fast for you, you can drop into half time and still be musical.
