This pops on my phone.I truly love this crochet like stitch.One of the best innovation that has happened to embroidery.I love both.I could embroider and i could crochet in real life.My biggest project in crochet is a queen bed cover that i made using pineapple like crochet patterns.I learned both when i was probably 10 years old in school.Grandma taught me lazy daisy stitch and cross stitch.I have copied a design from this channel that i have not finish yet .maybe i can copy this crochet like stitch to make that heart instead of using the original satin stitch.Now i have a great idea.Very unique and beautiful creation.Thanks.

Have you considered lightly gridding your embroidering space until your stitch work becomes more even by eye, so to speak? It will allow your knots to fit more nicely in the open 'loops' on your petals, regulate your back stitching a little more, and straighten your center 'checkerboard' stitches.
