Hello Alison! Long time no talk. I haven't checked in for a long time, but believe me it is for a good cause. I contacted you because my son was in 1st grade when we were having a VERY difficult time with getting him to read. He struggled with everything: blending, CVC words, de-coding, spelling.... you name it. I contacted you and eventually bought the programs you recommended, and it worked! We are 7 weeks from finishing 2nd grade, and my son is doing so much better! I mean, he has come a long way. He does not bring home unfinished work. He has enjoyed series of books like: The Bad Guys, Dog Man, The Magic Treehouse. He finally understands so many things so much better; in fact, when we ride in the car these days, he enjoys reading the signage on businesses and restaurants, and of course, NOW he can quickly read when Dairy Queen is having a sale on his beloved blizzard blast; so yeah, there's that to deal with now! SO much of it is due to you and your videos and your continuous devotion to our children. Thank you very much, Alison. School has become, finally, normal and often... fun. God bless.

Usually, we do a 40 minute lesson each day. In England, children have a phonics screening check in June when they are in year 1.

Can you share some tips for parents trying to teach their kids how to read. The child is done with letter recognition and sounds, what are the next steps?
