In this video I share my process for hand-mulling pigments into watercolor paints. This is not a difficult process - but can be lengthy and require some troubleshooting. I hope these tips and tricks help!

What temperature do you set you dehydrator ? Thank you for your video.

Hello - I used the lowest temperature since the empty pans are made of plastic. You can also allow the paint to air dry, but it takes much longer. Best of luck with your paint!

I didn't have any issue with this, but you do need to refill the pans several times. I think much depends on temperature and humidity in your home as well. It is fun to experiment. :) @@Walua

How much pigment would you use to make 1 pan?

Two table spoons fills several full pans. I would suggest starting with 1 teaspoon.

Making so little is rather unwise. If you put too much of either pigment or binder in, which can happen easily, you immediately land beyond the intended amount. And not every pigment is the same. Iron oxides for example take up a lot of space without weighing a lot, so it is not a very dense pigment. There are others who are extrememy dense in comparison though. So making only one pan can be quite challenging. I would recommend amounts of perhaps 3-5 pans. Or you fill one up and mix the rest of the remaining color with a different one. (For example you make a blue color first, fill one pan and then mix some red into the remaining color which makes a kind of violet, which you then fill into a pan)
