Louis Vuitton discontinued date codes in April 2021, although RFID chips can be found in bags dating back to 2019. Earlier this year, Louis Vuitton switched date codes for microchips to keep up with other high fashion brands like Salvatore Ferragamo and Fendi, to name a few. These Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) microchips are much easier to authenticate because each brand simply needs to scan the barcode rather than research the date code for the item. If you’ve bought a Louis Vuitton item produced after the 1st March 2021, the item will likely have an RFID tag inside of it. However, these microchips are tiny, they’re small in size and thin as paper, they are also often placed under the lining of the bag and therefore cannot be seen.

I also want to buy a second hand bag. I checked the code for authentification. - all good. But when checking on google, I found the same model with the identical code several times. (About 20 times) could that be possible?

Sorry for the delay Karine. Yes the codes are not unique to the bags they just tell you where it was made, week and month so bags can have the same codes. Use the date code checker on our website to see what yours means.

You site helps decifer what the code says example SP1018 it says is France 11th week of 2008 , which ok great, but what do I do with france 11th week 2008? Is there a next step?? Just because I've been told how to read the code, does not tell me what to do with the information? Is there a chart or a catalog that says whether or not this bag was made in france the 11th week of 2008? I feel like I've missed something or the whole idea of these serial numbers is a joke?

I purchased the On the Go, MM size in LV store in Rome, Italy recently. There is no Date Code. The Louis Vuitton store manager said LV doesnt make the date code anymore. Now its by a cheap. The store has the Mobile App to find the code. There was a bar code in side of my bag. Is that true?

Hi there, NeoNoe tags are inside the zipper pocket. Feel down either side and there should be a leather tab. They can be hard to get at.

Hello, I have both On The Go Tote GM in the brown and the Escale Pastel and for the life of me, I cannot find the date codes on both bags. Can you please tell me where I can find them? I’m a bit concerned, but when I called Louis Vuitton I was informed that not all bags will have a date code. Is that true? I wasn’t sure if the person I talked to knew for a fact. Thank you!

My codes are inside the zipper compartment down one of the sides on a leather tab, sometimes they don’t but that’s quite rare. New bags now feature electronic chips
