Beautifully performed, but a tad too fast. A lot gets lost at this tempo.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen: This is an excellent duet from an excellent Händel oratorio. However, the conducting is awful and the soloists’ singing is worse than awful. Also, the period-style instruments and period-style playing of the orchestra do not sound good. I highly recommend the 1971 complete Vanguard Cardinal series recording of “Judas Maccabaeus” by conductor Johannes Somary with soloists Tenor Alexander Young and Bass-Baritone John Shirley-Quirk. You can find it very easily on KZbin. It is performed excellently on modern instruments and sung by good, tight vocal chord voices in full voice. Alexander Young is the best Händelian Tenor of the Twentieth and Twenty-first Centuries! Hallelujah! Have a Dovely. Sincerely yours, Caleb Boone.
