@@nothingisreal6816 I’m not sure on the year, but I sold it for $400. It was fun to restore and learn about, but my keyboard skills don’t do it justice. The buyer was amazing as he played it. Brought the whole instrument to life!

Harpsichord is a grossly underrated instrument especially the 2 manual ones . Handel wrote this piece for the harpsichord so we are hearing the true authentic sound of this piece as Handel would have heard it.

I live near one of the last harpsichord builders and restorers in the Netherlands. They're being threathened by the demolition of the neighborhood their workshop is situated - a cheap, messy, industrial area (amsterdam's Havenstraat) surrounded by expensive apartments. The plans are already final, there's gonna be expensive housing in that area. I hope they survive...

Nathaniel, I just discovered this video and I am so grateful. I first heard this Sarabande, on harpsichord, when I was in my early teens. I’m 74 now. I fell in love with it and with harpsichord. You play it exquisitely and your harpsichord is equally exquisite. I like all the renditions of this Sarabande but yours is by far the best of all. And the video is beautiful.

Just as i thought how the piece should sound. I listened to many interpretations on Piano, but most of them dont use any pedal, making the piece sound unnecesarily hard. This performance is pretty much perfect.

I lost the ability to play in my early 40s, and sometimes it almost drives me mad, so finding stunning, thoughtful, careful, and just totally fun videos of some of my favourites are a joy. Have you considered the wild Mozart Variations on Ah! Vous Direz-Je Maman? (twinkle twinkle little star) Those last three variations are sheer delight, and I can imagine how you could make them sing. I don't know, but I think it must be a bit simplier... That's like trying to put more words into the same melody, like in a translation of a song, where the grammar doesn't let you let out some words, that don't match the melody. I feel simmilar here. I think he made too many of those trills... Or it's me who is stupid in classic music in his 14...(most likely)...

Hi there! Thanks for your critique. When I recorded this, I played the original sarabande and then improvised over the harmonies in the second half to elaborate on it. I think that's the bit you're talking about. It would likely be different if I was to do it now. Less is more. Keep up the listening and critiquing!
