This is one of Handel's finest - and that's really saying something! I agree this is a wonderful recording. Handel was truly one of the all-time greats!

gustavo stradella Handel was quite the super star....and continues to be so even today in the field of this endeavor. So great was his esteem after he had passed, Beethoven said he would serve his head to him because Handel's mastery was so great..High praise indeed. His skill in composing for the voice and the various emotional tambors required for characterization, puts him in the company of Monteverdi, Mozart, Verdi, and few others.

Hearing this superb rendering of Semele, I can't help but recall the production in which I sang at the Washington Opera. My dear friend Melvin Earl Brown, Counter Tenor sang the role of Athamos. Sadly, he is no longer around. I recall the Semele sung by Elizabeth Knighten as quite memorable. Nicholas McGhegen controlled from the pit.

@@johannsebastianbach5223 , this is (and was) not a competition;-) At least you liked Handel's music since you played it and apparently collected some of his music...

Yes I totally agree, Bach is my favorite composer but most people need to realize there is more genius music out there than just Bach, Mozart and Beethoven.

QUE HACE LA PUBLICIDAD EN UN SITIO COMO ESTE? ES REALMENTE INCÓMODO, CADA 5 MINUTOS UN PUTO ANUNCIO QUE NADIE QUIERE VER, NO TODO VALE...
