"Best zombie defense weapons for children, catching rainbows with your bare hands, and how to shift gears when you discover your favorite local fishin' spot bone dry! - Long Walks and Deep Talk With Papa"
So, after loading up one of our smaller 'yaks, along with a bunch of fishing gear and a ton of water, I gathered up a few of the grands and we headed out on another "Handicapable Adventure"!
With plans to travel nearly two miles along wooded trails through Black Ranch to Burney Creek, this was the first time I had ever attempted to tow a kayak such a significant distance.
And although the 'yak only weighs in at around 50 pounds, I can assure you that is still a lotta weight to tow with a wheelchair.
Even a trail beast of a chair like mine!
Little did I know that after all that effort, when we would finally arrive around an hour later, we would find our little creek bone dry - with some type of work being done to completely drain Morris Pond a quart-mile upstream.
Well, that sure was a waste of a whole lotta energy towing that heavy ol' 'yak fer nuthin', but oh well!
Not willing to let the situation ruin our day or dampen our spirits, we still enjoyed swimming and playing in the drastically low Morris Pond, and even though I managed to forget our fishin' poles like a total doofus, the boys still managed to catch multiple tiny baby rainbow trout with their bare hands!
Needless to say, they were super excited at their accomplishments, and even though we suffered several setbacks during our lil' adventure, we still had a fun and memorable day together that none of us will soon forget!
