I've heard you're not supposed to do injections into a place where you get a cut of meat. It's not toxic or anything but they say it can affect toughness.

Yes, intramuscular vaccines/injections is one kind. Another common one is subcutaneous, but pigs have tough skin so it's much more difficult to properly administer medications that way :)
