You handled that call very well Mikey. Most would’ve been so pissed, that they would have just taken the money and run. But you were making a connection with a new client that won’t forget it. There’s no guarantee that his neighbor will be there the next time, but he’ll remember what you did for him 👍👍. That’s how to run a successful business ❤️

So, Mikey will be this Guy’s “Plan B” forever. I’ll bet this guy makes five dinner reservations on Saturday nights then decides where he’s going to dine, without cancelling the other four. If your policy is to charge a non-refundable travel charge and first hour for an emergency response, you should stick to that. If you want, give the guy a $100.00 off coupon for an annual scheduled service. That way you get a foot in the door and can show your craftsmanship to the new client. If you don’t know what to do with the $295 first hour fee, take Mrs Pipes out for dinner. I’ll bet she hates when you have to run out to do emergency service calls in the middle of the night. Just my two cents.

I don’t think any real businessman would agree with you. When you negotiate a fair price to respond on an after hours emergency call you should stick with your price. Smart businessmen don’t give away free labor. That is a sign of weakness and desperation.

I got one even better. One call a coworker had was for a main drain snaking job. Customer already had plumber from a competitor there. Coworker showed up with all equipment ready and the competitor was already there with toilet off of floor. Turns out customer forgot to cancel. The competitor ended up paying the trip charge to said coworker.

Awesome job Mikey! I did have a question and not sure if you can help.. I have a maintainence plan with my HVAC company, they come twice a year and check everything out.. They were hear last week and they said everything was fine. They checked everything out.. I asked them if they cleaned the coils and they said if I wanted that done I'd have to schedule something separate that the $250 a year just covers two trips to check on the system.. Am I getting screwed? After watching your vids I'm pretty sure you need to clean coils to maintain a system right? Anyhow thanks bro for another banger video!

@@MikeyPipesUncensored you have no idea how many people in the dental field dont pay me AFTER I've already done treatment. In an ideal world I would collect up front like you do but its hard to pull it off cause its not the accepted standard. And there are plenty of dentists willing to wait four months for $50.

I wish Realtors could charge clients who don't do anything but waste our time. I've been waiting for this for a very long time. It's very easy to be "professional" when someone is getting paid well for their time regardless of how much a moron the client is.

His neighbor is probably using the truck, tools and materials owned by his employer. He’s charging his neighbor a reduced price because it’s all profit for him. And, he gets invited to a few parties and barbecues during the year as a bonus.

My one problem is, he did not call to cancel. For that alone he should be billed in full. Don't know how many times my world gets up ended just to cancel in the end. To many people just keep calling until someone shows. For that I only go out for existing accounts. I will bet you he knew what the guy across the street did but he was not available at that time. The number one cause of an of hour cancel is "my plumber became available sooner than expected "
@philtheheaterguy951
@philtheheaterguy951 Жыл бұрын
I agree 100%. People who call and schedule more than one tradesman in an “emergency” are showing how inconsiderate they are. He didn’t call to cancel because he was keeping “plan b” in effect until the heat was working properly.

Lots of people on Long Island are “loaded”. After Hurricane Sandy we were installing whole house generators and the pricing was at auction levels. I was helping to install an undersized generator that my electrician was able to get his hands on and the customer begged him to install, even though it was too small for the mansion. The guy signed a contract that included the installation of the undersized generator, then the removal and replacement when the correct unit became available. Money was no object. His wife (an absolute Long Island C**t Princess) ordered him to get electricity any way he could. She annoyed everyone from the plumbers doing the gas piping, to the electricians doing the generator install, to the landscapers installing the bushes. Yes………The landscapers had to put bushes to “hide” the “ugly” equipment. When the husband got home after a full day install, I told him what a bi**h his wife had been. He was a Wall Street guy, but a self made man. He tipped every guy on the site $200 and made his wife come out to serve us coffee and cookies, as an apology. Lots of people on Long Island have “stupid” money, but many of them have no class.

That client always uses his neighbor to fix his HVAC needs. He only called Mikey because he couldn’t reach his neighbor yet. I’ll bet if Mikey checked the other HVAC guys cell phone it would show that the client called the neighbor first. When he couldn’t reach the neighbor he called Mikey. Why do you think he never cancelled Mikey? Because he wasn’t cancelling until he had his heat running again.

I'm confused completely...? Be professional...?? What about the "too much" boiler estimate for the lady - you railed at ? Firing / sending home an employee on YT ? Never under any circumstances humiliate an employee in public my friend. That would be professional. Never kick people when they're down / being fired...it's called. Be professional --- only when it suits "you" I suppose ? How to be a part time professional is what you do, not say. It can be a difficult task I'll admit.
