More rules, terminology, how judges can help, etc.: Floor Rules: en.cf-vanguard.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/Bushiroad-Floor-Rules-1.2.2.pdf Comp Rules: en.cf-vanguard.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/VGD-Sneak-Preview-Recommended-Rules.pdf Some Terminology: Provisional Judge -Judges who are knowledgeable in game rulings. Provisional Judge will have to refer to a mentor (Level 1 Judge and up) for any floor rulings or infraction matters. Level 1 -Judges who are knowledgeable in both game and floor rulings. Level 1 Judges will act as an mentor to Provisional Judges by sharing their experience and knowledge with them. Level 2 -Judges who are knowledgeable in both game and floor rulings. Additionally they are responsible, with the ability to build and lead a team of judges. Level 2 Judges will also be given an opportunity to be a head judge for official tournaments. Tournament Organizer (TO) are the hosts/organizers of the event and are Bushiroad employees. Other Tips: What Else Are Judges Helpful With: -Can verify rulings before and during the event --HJ duties in hall --Judges and TO outside halls assisting -Special medical accommodations -Time left in the round --Will always repeat what was announced last -Directing players to Side events, vendors, errata stations Tiers of "penalties": -Verbal Caution, Warning, Game Loss, DQ --A warning is a penalty for a bigger infraction than cautions, but not too severe. A warning is given to a fighter when they are an interference to the tournament or has committed moderate infractions, like reversible game state. A game loss is when something, intentionally or not, has caused a game state to become irreversible or an advantage gained outside of the rules of the game. Common Misconceptions of Judges: -Judges aren't helpful --Haven't seen this but can definitely understand where this may come from. From lack of empathy to those who may seem colder in approach to the judge role can Def have some judges come off as "not helpful." -Some players may have a fear or resentment against judge --HJ are always there to hear about the staff that they are in charge of. Any and all comments need to be made to the HJ or TO of the event as this will help them for the said event as well as any future accommodations that may need to take place. Best way to contact busbiroad about any and all past events and things that go on is at: usa_support1@bushiroad.com. As far as judges, you'd have to know one but there are several that make themselves public like Sagran and even Kyrus on X.

I have not played CFV in years (just before D), but listening to this kind of conversation from a judge perspective for a different game is always appreciated and great to hear about.

@@haapsaari55 thanks for watching! Absolutely agree! A lot of what's discussed is applicable to most TCGs. Glad you got value from it! 👊

Yeah, the only issue I've had with judges was during BSF23 while playing Eva, picked up deck to make sure there were no G3 Obscudeids left in deck and to force a shuffle since I knew OT was on bottom, then called G3 Obscudeid from hand. Opponent called judge since Eva says "Or" and since I had picked up deck I had chosen deck instead of hand since she does say or, and therefore I wasn't allowed to call from hand even though we already had rulings from JP that said you could. The initial judge sided with opponent, and while I probably should have called HJ, I took the warning since I still had game. I did find HJ after to double check their rulings, and turns out it didn't matter since they also would have ruled with the "Or". Don't know if it was best practice, but I pulled up the JP website and Eva Q&As at that point and showed the HJ since we had clear rulings on that, and Eva was pretty prominent that format.

I played in a locals today (D-Standard) and fought a messiah player. He went first so was G3 before me. I stayed on G2 and played through my turn and ended. He started his turn but didn't stride and ended. I rode too G3 and won. After the cardfight I asked why he didn't stride because he started his turn already on his G3 messiah. His response was that in standard you can only stride when both players are on G3 regardless of if he starts his turn already on G3 . Is this true?? I was told that if you start on G3 even if your OP is G2 you can stride. Which is true ?? Appreciate the response. I’ve also read through the standard rules and can’t seem to find this situation discussed . I may have missed it. All I can find when discussing this specific issue is the V-Rules .

@@tythesoupguy3702 that's correct. The Stride rulings are slightly different from Standard vs Premium. Standard format, both players must be at G3 for any player to Stride. This is possible to have a G2 game like the old G Era days. Premium eventually got an extra ruling where it has that extra case. If you've on the same G3 since last turn, you can stride regardless of your opponent's Vanguard. But you still have to wait a turn.
