Love it! I restore old axes and make sheaths for them, while they are nice, I keep them a bit on the rough side. I found an old leather drive belt at a thrift store and have been using it for my projects. The aged leather looks incredible when finished. I hit it with fresh black dye and black shoe polish and rub the hell out of it.

Beautiful result and great videography and editing. I recently made a sheath for my hand axe. The second attempt was okay but the first was slightly too small and, after wetting the leather and trying to wriggle it on, I sliced through the folded section with the toe! 😂

Nice work 👍. I'm sure that Julia over at Wetterlings would appreciate the love you put into that axe. I have several sharp axes that need this treatment, and all the tools and materials to do the job. So many projects. But right now I need to make sure I have enough firewood before the next snowstorm.

Wow, gorgeous work, and a very fun video to watch. Love the little mistakes left here and there. I do wonder though, for the handle guard, if you choke up on the axe to do some fine work, the stiches will be in your palm, might be more comfortable with the stiching to the front. From someone who used to make a living with an axe almost identical to that one, the leather wrap under the head would be better in blaze orange. On my axe I painted that exact same area blaze orange. I did this to prevent me from losing my axe if I put it down. Other people I worked with would lose their axes, I never did.
