Love them, so beautifull ❤ I have a question regarding Air dry clay and molds. In this video, you insert the clay into the molds and let it dry for 24h before demold them. However, I saw other artisans that don´t let the clay dry or let the clay dry only a few hours, and then glue it on the ornaments. Do you know why? In your opinion, what is the best procedure, let the clay dry before applying on the ornament or not (maybe both ways are correct and all depends on the resolt you want to achieve)? Thanks in advance for your time 😘

In this project, I leave the clay to dry for 24 hours only in a deep mold with a deer's face, the depth of this mold is almost 4 cm, so it will not be possible to get a high-quality cast if it is removed immediately. From other molds I take impressions immediately or after an hour, it depends on the depth of the mold.

If you are using a silicone mold with a depth of 3-5 mm, leave the clay in the mold to dry for about 15-30 minutes, then you can remove the impression from the mold. If your mold is more than 5 mm deep, leave the clay in the mold to dry for 1-2 hours and more, then you can remove the impression from the mold.

I tried this with the same materials but mine turned out an ugly brown.

There is a chance that you did not apply acrylic gloss varnish before applying the acrylic patina. If you apply this varnish 2-3 times, dry the surfaces well, then apply an acrylic patina, then the excess patina can be wiped off very easily with wet wipes. You can correct your work in two ways. 1. Repaint everything white, dry it, apply 2-3 layers of acrylic varnish, dry it. Then apply the patina, dry for 20-30 minutes, then wipe off excess patina with a damp cloth. Or 2. Apply a little white paint to the brush, wipe the excess paint on the paper so that the brush is almost dry, then use this dry brush to walk over the relief and lighten it. @ you are so kind! You’re right, I only applied one coat of varnish so not enough. When I see yours the patina is more of a stone look on my monitor. I did buy the cadence antique patina so maybe it’s just I was expecting a different color as well. I already have repainted it all white so will go from there.
