I like seeing this man with so much passion for rugs. I am one of those people who is afraid of buying rugs in general because I don’t want to buy an overpriced rugs that’s not actually worth it. But I probably would feel comfortable buying an expensive rug from this guy.

I like you, your rugs and your videos are great! However, the first 4 minutes you literally said the same things over and over. You have a lot of info to depart and it's meaningful...but I also lose interest when you repeat the same thing in various ways. Please keep making the videos but we are smart enough to get it the first time you say it. Watch the videos and see for yourself. Get the facts out once and get to the point and you will be amazing....I see a million followers in your future. God Bless.

i am prayer rug collectors, as a muslim, i used them for my personal praying experience, i have 2 isfahan and 2 meshad handmade prayer rugs, but when i want to escalate the echelon to qom persian, suddenly i realize i am out of budget, hence, i bought the machine made replica bamboo silk qom prayer rug, the figure ( appearance and the fringe style ) is exactly the same as what you show, luckily i realize that i bought the machine made replica from the beginning, and sure the cost match the specification, thank you Michael for your explanation, at least with this machine made i can have a feeling of praying upon a qom rugs

Mike I have seen some very high quality excellent designed 100% pure Qom silk rugs that are machine made and they are expensive due to the material used and designs they have (not as expensive as hand made obviously) so what is the matter with them? If you know what you are buying and paying less for them but they are very beautiful and using the same quality material what is the problem with them? I also own both machine made and hand made 100% Qom silk rugs, I like them both but actually prefer the design of the machine made rug as I think it is unique and beautiful (happy to share all the pictures I have). I also have a wool rug from Tabriz which has an incredible knot count for a hand made rug. Actually close to the machine made surprisingly. The textures are surprising, whoever created it did so with incredible skill.

The machine-made carpets, by your own omission, are better. But I get what you're saying, the craft, time & tradition. Handmade carpets are soon becoming a thing of the past. I've always had a love for Persian carpets myself. I was actually looking up how they're made when I stumbled upon your video.

What would be the weaving techniques that predominate in Qom carpets and what would be the influence of ancient empires or current, in addition, if there are Islamic geometric designs in their designs and since when did they begin to be used and what did they do before?

Thank you very much for a very clear information about hand knotted and machine made carpets. You mentioned that the machine made carpet is also pure silk and of very high quality made in Qom Iran. Now the main difference in price is that of labor cost of weavers for hand knotted carpets and the originality of the carpet, but at the same time the machine made is much finer and smoother. How should we price the machine made carpet of same quality, like 50% or less of that of original . I am asking because i bought absolutely the same quality of carper from Iran with same signature and an absolute beauty. Knots can be clearly counted easily with magnification up to 1764 Kpsi. I just wonder can we call it Machine Knotted carpet. You will have millions of subscribers soon inshallah.

@mprugs When machines came into farming they put a lot of people out of work. Same thing happened with the auto industry, mining, ... Even the printing press put an end to an industry. The good thing is those people could go on to other things. The people made more things as a result. Are the machine made rugs and less in quality?

Machine made.....too good to be true. Here's your tell sign. I examined my Turkish silk rug and nothing is sawn on and there are mistakes and imperfections in symmetry, pattern, not perfectly shaved. It is just NOT perfect, actually I can find several mistakes.

True. I don't buy a handmade piece so that I can walk on it wearing my timberlands, drag crap over it or place chairs on it. I buy the art, workmanship and painstaking time to create a work of art. Therefore, I would Never pay anything above the cost of the material for a computer controlled machine produced item. However, I have no problem paying a lot for somebody's patience and God giving gift of talent

Thanks so much for this video! I have a lot of these rugs at home. Some are obviously machine made, and some obviously by hand. I have one (a silk and wool Tabriz) where I can't really tell, even after watching this video. As a former weaver, I well know that the human hand is far from perfect, especially when it comes to this kind of detail. What I do know is that a well made Persian rug will last many life times... regardless of how it was constructed. Look for rugs with a heavy warp, and be wary of salespeople who try to put a questionable provenance on them in order to bilk you. Unfortunately, there are a lot of shady rug sellers out there.

Thank you for the guidance on this matters. Is there a thing like machine made Persion rugs? Its not necessarily needs to be pure silk one as it is often very expensive. Am just looking for normal persian rugs that actually looks nice pretty durable. If theres any, how do I know if its a quality persian rugs if it was machine made?
@mprugs
@mprugs 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, There are more and more machine made rugs being made in Iran and this is specially true with the pure silk ones. Its too early to say how durable they are as they have only been around for a few years, but they are definitely out there. The wool rugs are still being made mainly by hand and if you are new to Persian rugs, look for wool rugs if you want handmade. I have made several other videos in which I try to share more tips and hope that those can help you as well...

HI I want to share the picture of my rug which I recently bought and is a Persian silk hand tufted Qum with natural colors. The salesman declared on the receipt too that it’s real silk on silk base partially hand made and partially machine made in Persia, Qum city and is very costly. Can you tell if it’s original and worth the price.
@mprugs
@mprugs 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, You stated that the salesman stated that the rug is partly machine made, so obviously it's not 100% handmade and therefore not a genuine Persian rug... 99% of machine made Qum silk rugs have the sides and fringes worked over by hand to make them appear to be handmade. Also, you might want to have the silk tested as I have never seen a machine made rug made with real silk.
@shum2261

@@mprugs Hi, can I share the picture with you. I performed the test to check the fiber and it did not melt or turn to white ash but was black, did not catch fire and smelt like chemicals, the smell was nothing close to a burnt human hair. It’s most probably artificial synthetic fiber and nothing real and sold under the name of Qum Persian silk rug. Although I managed to get an exchange but it’s ridiculous how tricky the vendor was.

What do these top of top quality machine made silk rugs cost per square foot or Square meter....and are they real pure natural silk or man-made synthetic silk
@mprugs
@mprugs 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, The machine made rugs are typically made with synthetic silk as the natural silk is not suitable for the weaving machines and the cost would be much higher. I have seen the machine made silk carpets advertised to retailers from US$50-200 per square meter depending on quality.
