Haha, you just saved me countless hours that I would have spent otherwise replying to emails about which microphones they should use when recording a handpan! Cheers! :)

Thanks for this video ! I spent a lot of time re-listening and re-listening to try to catch the nuances. You play a great hang David, you play in a really unique way.

Thanks for doing this. When you have a great instrument and player to begin with 😅 Listening on my iPhone without earbuds i couldn’t discern any significant difference except for the two cheapest mics i’d avoid and the only one i heard enough difference was the Royer-reproduced a warmer bass sound so i picked that as my first choice.

Will record hang drum in 2 days, so it was extremely useful to watch these video. I will try MK4, KM184 (which I personally liked more than MK4 for its flat low mid range) and TLM103. Thank you for the video!

Great video as always David :-) I remember you had a video about recording a Frame Drum. Can you share a link here ? I couldn't find it anywhere....

This was a very helpful video. I noticed some of the mic produced as slight hiss such as the Shure SM57. I'm not sure if this was the mic itself or electromagnetic interference with the cables, etc.

David vielen dank, super hilfreiches videos. VIELEN DANK!

How far were the mics away from the hardpan?

Are the mics connected to a computer, or is the sound we hear coming out of a speaker/amp? if so, which? any preamps?

Very interesting David, thanks for this well made comparison. Top 3 = TLM103, R121 and MK12. Have you ever recorded with a stereo couple? ORTF CMC6MK4 would be great with a surface PZM or condenser surface mic for bass emphasis. Or even two BK omni to feel inside the scene... I'm really in love with your play and inspiration, you are a great musician !

@@Nadayana ohhhhh!!! May I ask which ones? :) I wonder if it would work on my Ravs! 😊 I own a ton of mics, and I kinda like the akg411p on my ravs, but no matter which interface or mixer I use I get a ground loop / bassy noise 😕

@@maximeheberttalbot4505 i got great results with Ensoul. I am trying to make a review soon. K K big twin will work as well. The main thing is good eq and a clean amp

@@Nadayana Thanks a lot for answering, 🥰 can’t wait to listen to your new album! I own a spiritual/metaphysical shop in my town, and I listen to ‘Nine’ on repeat haha I just released my first album! It was a lot of work (did absolutely everything myself) but I’m really proud. Stay true to who you are, you’re creating way more than music and it is absolutely beautiful (sorry for my English btw haha)

Eine schöne Zusammenstellung. Vielen Dank!
@robbe47113 жыл бұрын
That Rode NT 5 sound good for the small price tag.

Not easy a difference to hear! Why you bring no simple example USB microphones? Blue Yeti USB microphone is an excellent, no noise, about 140 euros.
