I have the Brydge Pro for my 12.9 iPad Pro. The rubber shims that hold the iPad has so tight of a tolerance, it doesn’t allow for a screen protector at 0.3mm. Forcefully squeezing the iPad into the shims would either wreck it (like i did), or the ipad would slip out of the shims. Then you won’t get that sleek MacBook-like look when closed. Brydge was nice enough to send me 1 replacement, which I broke again. A replacement is a hefty $17.99. I wish Brydge would really look at a better solution to this.

I have the original Brydge keyboard for my iPad Pro 11” and use a £7.00 Bluetooth mouse with programmable keys that does all plus more than any trackpad. Where I think Brydge have jumped the gun on this one is that its not just the addition of some form of pointing/tracking device, but if they’d included a built in hub of some sort or at least a USB port and SD card reader with perhaps a retractable usb c lead, then I believe it would sell more. It wouldn’t surprise me if they’re working on this as well, but its just my opinion that they should have waited and incorporated it all in one go. I can’t see that anyone who already has the original (and uses a mouse) will be clambering to purchase this one.

Edward Chan Because u can detach the iPad and use it as a tablet without the keyboard if u want to sit at the couch or in bed and watch Netflix or surf the web.. and being able to use the Apple Pencil is a plus as well. You get more use cases with the iPad than the MacBook. Why drag around both a laptop and a tablet (double the weight and space and cords and money, etc) when you can get both in one device. That’s why ppl are migrating to the iPad and this new keyboard with trackpad gives another reason to so that

@AppleInsider5 жыл бұрын
What a pessimistic attitude. You could say take a OS Designed for mobility and Apple’s custom silicone for amazing battery life and make it more powerful to support additional productivity features such as a mouse, Hot Corners, etc. then design optional accessories that enhance that functionality further for those that need it but can easily be removed when not necessary. Which lowers the overall cost and keeps it as portable as possible.

@KevinCalimachMorgan4 жыл бұрын
But the guy in the video, from AppleInsider, actually said that in the video. Why not direct it at them? For the average user, maybe. Checking emails, watching KZbin, and light web browsing, iPad already is a cheaper option that most people would prefer to the MacBook. But there’s so much legacy x86 and x86_64 professional programs that can run on MacBooks that the ARM-based iPads will not be able to run. It’s going to take way longer than 3 years for the software ecosystem to catch up. Just look at the Adobe suite - the most recent iPad Pro came out in 2018 and even after years, so many Adobe apps cannot run the full version on iPad.

No it doesn’t. Nor should it. An iPad is better as an iPad and a MacBook is better as a MacBook. Otherwise you end up with something which is a compromise.

Why trying to make a macBook out of a device which is another thing. If you want a trackpad, get yourself a MacBook Pro... In addition , after using the iPad Pro for at least one year I have come to the conclusion that is is NOT a laptop replacement. It may be used to complement your workflow, help you with graphic and sketching because of the excellent apple pencil, but the trackpad use would be totally pointless. In addition , I have never used the iPad Pro for serious video editing or music production.... I have taken advantage of some features, some apps to complement my work , but, the most of my work relies on desktop apps. Said that, the iOS App Store offers very efficient apps for the iPad but the more I use them the more I realize that a limited trackpad is nothing compared to the ability to use the apple pencil or the touch screen, and that is what apple engineers had in mind
