Longines looks back on its history and pays tribute to one of its most iconic collections by introducing the Conquest to a new generation of enthusiasts. With the Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve, the Saint-Imier maison draws inspiration from its 1959 model, featuring a power reserve indicator on two rotating discs at the center of the dial. The indicator, shaped like a baton, displays the remaining power in the movement through an external coiling disc, marked from 64 hours down to 0. This dynamic power reserve indicator not only serves a functional purpose but also creates a continuously evolving aesthetic, evoking a poetic sense of the passage of time.

Finally an elegant men's watch which is 38 mm in diameter. I've been waiting for this for 20 years. Watches in the past 20 years have grown so much in size that I could wear most of them only on my biceps.

The power reserve is actually 72 hours, not 64 as mentioned in the review. It's somewhat confusing because the dial has "64", but the reserve indicator actually shows 'full' at the dot passed the 64, indicating 72hrs.

yep, i have to admit was for us confusing too but video was shoot already when we found out. Would have made more sense to display the number 72 or instead of the dot call it full or use colors such as red and green...

I'm confused why are you winding the crown at 2:12 in the video if the movement is automatic? Can the power reserve also be set manually?

YEs. You can hand wind all automatic watches. If the watch has sat several days without being on a watch winder the power reserve will deplete. You can set the date and time and hand wind the watch to full power reserve or wind it partially and let hand movement take over the rest.

Let's be honest: Most of the brands, as soon as the put a date it cost easy +1K and more without any further complications.

There are other watches in Longines lineup with other better features that cost less such as the new Hydroconquest GMT wich has a pricetag around 2.7k, the new Legend Diver 39mm around 3k, the Flagship heritage moonphase for 2.8k and everyone of them has a complication, moonphase, GMT and the other has a super compresor style case (not a complication) and all of them are way way less than this watch.I'm not saying that the watch is bad, but I just dont see why it is worth almost 4k, it just has a power reserve complication and thats it. Longines is not yet at the same level as Tudor, but their prices are almost the same. Why? honestly dont know

I mean, GMT or Moonphase is something you see everywhere but they way Longines displays here the Power Reserve is very unique and a huge challange technically. I just think the phrase “in-house” just gets thrown around from watch brands to insinuate they are making their movements from scratch in their factory studio (ie from said watchmaker not from manufacturer). In reality, it’s that not special imo and more like a marketing gimmick.

Le mouvement n'est pas trop petit, cela a plus à voir avec le disque de la date. On aurait pu réduire la taille du guichet de date et changer sa position, mais Longines l'a délibérément fait dans ce style.

I am not sure about this, maybe yes maybe no..because the material choice has also to do a lot with the history of its predecessor. Some brands keep it in steel, to pay tribute to the very first release which in this scenario was a stainless steel case - eventually, nobody knows and everything is possible :)

@@Appalachian-Toad Usually when movements are controlled, they have to undergo certain tests. These test have - depending on the movement - to fit within a tolerance. All Longines mechanical non-chronometer movements have to be within -5 sec / +8 sec per day. Of course, it can happen that a certain movement is more accurate depending on various factors.
