@@faheemabbas3965 Have you driven an electric roadster? The performance of them is incredible even with a heavy battery. With the rotary range extender they won't have to put in a large battery - this thing will be a beast. Yeah there won't be gears to row through, but it will be a totally different performance envelope. I'm not ditching my Miata any time soon but I still think this is an exciting concept and I trust Mazda to deliver a top notch driving experience over any other manufacturer at this point.

@@faheemabbas3965 I don't understand where you're coming from, all ICE work best at a fixed speed, contrary to electric engines, it's gonna cut the weight of the battery by at least half while extending the range a long thanks to gasoline energy density. It is gonna be safe and drive really well due to the low weight and torque vectoring, it'll run on many fuels due to the Rotary and it will be relatively easy to repair besides electric motor full replacement. Literally chose the most nonsensical take ever, a car full of soul compared to most concepts.

I hate the EPA. I hate European emissions laws. Because look at what they’re doing to our good cars. I’m actually considering moving to Europe or an urban/downtown area because if cars become soulless and the good gas cars get mandated out of existence, I’d rather take public transport (even if it’s bad) or bike instead of drive. It’s times like these that we need to advocate for good public transport and walkable cities. In America, with how everything is built to be spaced apart from each other and only can be navigated by cars, it may seem impossible. But keep advocating.

If it's priced anywhere near the 2023 Nissan Z, which i'd assume it would be, I can't afford it yet, but I will wait for it as long as I have to. Please, please put it into production Mazda. Justaformer : you are blind by thinking that driving is defined by a gasoline engine with a manual transmission. This is only a habit. Humans are lost and feel bad when they lose a habit. Humans could have created directly electric vehicles and ICE would never have existed. And you would not be complaining here now. I am a driver that daily drives a manual transmission but i am open minded. And having driven an electric car i know electric sports cars will be huge fun. Why ? Electric cars have a crazy amount of torque! You won't even think there is no engine noise.

@@lensoprezole5322no, it is not. It actually is a lesser driving experience. Ppl who don't understand driving for the pleasure of driving lack the capacity to fully understand why we need a manual, why we want a low weight and why we want a combustion engine. Because you're just a car guy but not a driver, you'll never get it. All you need is a beautiful car that goes fast and job solved(1 gear, self cornering, etc-etc, does not matter as long as your base criterias are met). When(if) you'll, at some point, become a driver, you'll understand; until then, you simply can't. edit. simply can't and you'll keep finding excuses and arguments that, biasedly, support your case. edit 2. a vehicle that demands less from you, as a driver, it is a vehicle that will offer less pleasure and satisfsction of driving, especially on the long term. If you change your cars like you change your phones.. then it is like I have said above, you don't understand driving at its core(and purest, most satisfactory form); EVs should be just in the public transport sector and for small urban vehicles or commuters; no one will ever save the planet with a 3 ton electric SUV, no one!

Yeah at first glance I thought that it looked like a modernized RX-7 which is one of my all time favs.

Thanks for this, it is a beautifully styled car. Will you do long videos on the Lexus and Toyota concepts?

Mazda just keeps on giving designe-wise since the introduction of the Kodo design back in 2012. This thing is beautiful. Mercedes, Audi, BMW (!!!) take notes.

It’s gorgeous so that means it won’t be built. Just like 10 or 15 years ago when the new dodge charger was first being talked about they came out with a gorgeous two door concept. And then turned around and built a four-door brick look alike.

Beautiful design. Crazy tight body panel fitment. That door seam is almost invisible.

Need more information on the drivetrain. It does not appear to be a plug-in configuration because I see no port. Too light for much battery, which is a good thing of course. Is the rotary engine meant to continuously charge at all times to power the electric motors, or is there some battery reserve. Exquisitely minimalist and beautiful shape to my eyes, but do lack of bumpers meet regulations in the U.S.? Questions…

I am intrigued. Rotary engines run most efficiently at fixed, lower and stable RPM, they had to beef up the engineering to get the broad powerband necessary for vehicles. This is classic mazda returning to its old form. Bravo. If they keep it relatively affordable, I hope we see lots of them on the road. And please dear lord PLEASE dont make them just barely big enough for a average 5 foot Japanese person. I couldnt even safely test drive a miata because im to tall 😢

I'm a big fan of Mazdas, and between Mazda and Honda, these are two most highest quality Japanese cars hands down. I love that swing up door, just like Countach. They require absolute bare minimum maintenance but they just keeps running without any serious issues. No other manufacturers can achieve this, not even Toyota. In fact, Toyota's quality has been suffering for the past several decades. But Mazda is super reliable, and always have that very fun to drive factor which only the Honda is close second. I will be keeping my eyes out for this one for sure.
