Honestly, this is probably the best of the 2025 winter lineup. Overall, I can’t say many sets have caught my eye this time around. I’ve been pretty discouraged with how much licensed brands have taken over LEGO. The F1 collab especially feels like a gut punch. So this set, for me, feels super reassuring. To see them commit to designing such a cool set original to LEGO is fantastic. And it looks so cool too! As you said, the designer truly balanced the refinement seen in modern sets with the design language of the 80s. I took a minute to look at what parts were used and how, and I really enjoyed seeing how certain parts, such as the scaffolding and lattice pieces, bring the whole design together. Also super fascinating to see just how similar this is, in motif, to the GWP despite the scale being different and the sets being two years apart. Too bad the sets are compatible in terms of modularity. Huge missed opportunity.

This is my favorite Blacktron interview. Good job, Johnny! Keep on keeping it real with interesting content.

I like the subtle amount of greebling with the grille pieces, scaffolding and red accents which is a little bit more than classic LEGO spaceships had, but not overdoing it and staying true to the original. I was 10 when Blacktron 1 came out and it´s my birthday in early January so there is that.

Saw Tiago’s interview first, which was good, but he admits he doesn’t have a connection to this set. Watching both of you guys fawning over this set was great because I feel the same way. I’m definitely getting 2 copies to build the Alienator. Now we need remakes of Battrax and Message Intercept Base, as well as color corrected Meteor Monitor.

something tells me you can make a Battrax out of this by adding a set of nice Space Wheels from City Space.

Since I didn't see it in the title or description, the set designer being interviewed is Jae Won Lee. I really like how y'all basically interrupted the interview to just pick up and play with the toys, including making whooshing noises as the ship flies through space. I really appreciate that "pick me up and play with me" design over things that are just models to be displayed. I really really like how he demonstrates how sturdy it is when built, too. I've had some inexpensive compatible brick sets and it's amazing how loosely they're held together and will just fall apart just trying to pick them up.

If this is the set designers first set, he needs to be on a lot more themes and keep cooking with black Tron

Being a fan of Blacktron since 1987 there is only one thing I think…get that ship as soon as I can

I kept waiting for y'all to lift the hood of the front section and see the engine underneath. Something new to appreciate when you build it then, I guess.

The only negative with this set is that Lego doesn’t offer you the choice to preorder this set

Just one minor quibble, the use of a sticker rather than printing of the Blacktron logo
