TBH I thin’ Helms Deep would’ve more popular and would’ve made more sense. You had Rivendell last year representing the first film/book, then they could’ve done Helms Deep this year representing the second and then they should’ve done Barad Dur for the third. A trilogy of UCS LOTR sets. 🤔🤷

very insightful interview, definitely one set i need to get in the future some time. i think the mostly midi/micro scale exterior combined with mini fig scale interiors is a good way to do it. i think it reads well as the tower from the movies, and i also really like the use of orange bricks instead of black on key elements to portray ambient light.

A dream set of mine would be a smaller one (at least, compared to the Rivendell and Barad Ur ones) based on the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. An oliphaunt/mumak and a fell beast would be the meat of what you build, with minifigs of characters like Merry, Eowen, Eomer, Theoden, the Witch King, orcs, and Haradrim.

Most prototype pieces for minifigs are in white. You can see it on some Ninjago prototypes while Chris was in Denmark doing interviews. Chris even asked about the helmets in the video, they are gonna be in gunmetal on the finished product.

I am so going to extend that tower like they did for at least half a segment, looks fantastic but a tiny bit stubby. Just a bit bummed the Sauron helmet and pauldron is one piece, the mace is three very common parts and that they seemed to have stepped back from Mordor Sam&Frodo with the helmets - can't see those in the official pics. Also Sauron should have gotten the Avatar minifig arms and legs to be more towering compared to regular minifigs. I am getting this set nonetheless, just pointing things out that should be pointed out.

He definitely won the last Lego Masters, you can see a couple of videos on his channel as well as the show for confirmation. This is actually the first time Sauron was made into an official minifig, so any other versions that existed before were custom third party creations.
