Nauticam missed the ball on this one! The Canon C70 is still an industry standard and highly desired by many because of all the features we know. I’m starting to think something really bad happened with the engineering side of the housing construction or even legal aspects for them to discontinue the housing.

It is a fantastic camera and housing. There were not issues at all with the engineering, housing construction, or legal aspects, it simply had very little popularity for underwater imaging compared to some of the other options in the market. This is surprising as you mentioned because the C70 itself has been very popular amongst run-n-gun, wildlife, and documentary shooters over the years. There's a new housing being released for the C400 we're aware of, we may see something for the new C80 as well but not official announcement on that yet!

Great review! Do you find you need an external monitor or does the onboard monitor do the job well enough?
@reefphotovideo27742 жыл бұрын
Thanks Joel, The onboard monitors work great but once you've used an external monitor it's a real game changer. The larger, brighter screens found on the SmallHD and Atomos housing options really help, plus the provide a much more comfortable position for filming by being able to mount the external monitor in different orientations while diving/shooting.

@@reefphotovideo2774 Thanks fore the reply! So how do you power the Ninja V underwater? With a Dtap or just run batteries on the actual monitor itself within the housing?
@reefphotovideo27742 жыл бұрын
@@garfunkle37 - the housing supports the Sony style NP F970 batteries for extended run times on the Ninja V, so that's all you'd need.

This housing is literally more expensive than the camera itself...by 2k lol wtf

Hi There. If you research high quality aluminum housings, you will see they will almost always be considerably more expensive than the cameras they house. It is a simple numbers game. Cameras have minimal raw materials, minimal machining, and are mass produced in quantities of tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands. Housings like this have a huge amount of raw materials (housings are machined from large blocks of solid aluminum), massive amount of custom machining and custom components, extremely complex engineering and are made in quantities of a dozen or a few dozen at most. I hope that helps answer your question.

Do the fans of the camera need to be turned off when inside the housing or can they be kept on?
