The I.D. Buzz should be starting in the mid $40k range. It goes 230 miles max on a charge in optimal conditions. There are performance EV's with way more power and range that cost less. There are other 3 row EV's at a similar price with more range. The only reason to buy an I.D. Buzz is for nostalgia or for it's looks.

Liked your presentation of the ID Buzz. Interesting modern VW twist on an iconic vehicle from yesteryear. I was a college student in 1970 and owned a 1967 VW bus that had a California camper van conversion very similar to the German Westfalia. Love it and still to this day kick myself for selling it! What is different today is that the average college student couldn't afford this modern interpretation of this once affordable van. What you and other automotive channels have commented on is affordability from time to time. I think the industry as a whole has gone too far into a market that excludes certain income ranges and along with the banking industry has created a financial monster debt to value ratio cycle that seems to perpetuate itself every 15 years or so. This dark side of this industry is very under reported. Love your channels. Keep up the great reporting and awesome reviews.

It would be easy to turn the ID Buzz into a camping van because it has a sunroof, so you don't need to cut a hole in the roof. Just remove the sunroof and attach a pop-up rooftop tent to the roof rack with a waterproof seal, and you will have a camping version.

A great car for $70k that you have to worry about range anxiety, seat belt is dumb, agreed. Poorly designed. They left it as the euro model since no 3rd row in EU. No snow tires available. 😂 They missed the mark on this bit making a ICE version. I would’ve bought one but EV or no hybrid @VW, you missed the mark. Clearly. An over-engineered vehicle. Cup holders are silly. UX of screen is poor, haptic controls are pathetic. Windows. Overthinking. Phone wireless chargers are bad? Never an issue with my ‘24 Santa Fe with wireless charging pads. Much more tech for 25k less. No better of a vehicle. I get 500 miles till empty.

Funny how Everybody is always talking about range on these electric vehicles and think 230 miles is not enough. Anyway, just for some perspective, I have a ram 5500 flatbed tow truck and it has a wheel lift on the back also and because of that wheel lift, the outfitters have to order the chassis without the rear 56 gallon tank that Ram offers. Now with that being said, I do have the midship tank which is 22 gallons. So with the average driver, these trucks only get about 10 miles per gallon so therefore this truck can only go about 220 miles on a tank of fuel. I personally, because of the way I drive can get closer to 300 miles on a tank. But that’s pretty rare unless I’m on a long trip. Anyhow, my point is yes I have to plan out my trips keeping an eye on my fuel gauge so I don’t run out of fuel. But I run around doing tows all day long here in the Phoenix Valley and as long as I pay attention to my fuel gauge, it’s never really a big issue that I don’t have a lot of range on this truck. So I guess my point is you don’t really need to worry about your range unless like you guys said you’re on a road trip and even then obviously you’ll just have to plan out where you can stop to charge. It is what it is. And with this vehicle you’re having fun and you occasionally have to stop and charge it every now and then, totally worth it. If I could afford one I would buy one. 😊
@Molishious19 күн бұрын
I love the styling, the cheerful colors and the cargo. It’s the world’s first cool minivan. But for my uses and for my money, I’d go for the EV 9. About the same size, more horsepower, more range, more buttons and knobs, very little haptic nonsense, a sunroof that opens and on the trim I’d get, a bench seat in the second row. I test drove one today and it’s great. They are readily available for a lot less than MSRP so more affordable than the ID. Hate to be a Buzz kill. Wish VW would stop with all the touch controls. How about some nice retro knobs?

Isn't the point of battery vehicles is that they're supposed to be more economical? As this as example, I dont see it. You could have put the VW 2.0 diesel in there and get 40 mpg highway, and perhaps 500 miles per tank. And of course the price would be around $45K.
