They make these clinicals so stressful when in reality it is a joke. I got my CNA about 10 years ago while I was in college but now Im a MD. Dont let these nurse instructors freak yall out. Its not open heart surgery. Just use common sense and stay focused. I hated how they hyped up these clinicals when all we did was wipe ass in the end. I just came here because I just had a ten year flash back lol

Thank you for your comment! These videos are meant to take the fear out of the testing process and help students understand the checkpoints that they must meet to pass. No, it's certainly not open-heart surgery - and yes, CNAs certainly do a lot of personal care tasks but the test is not hard if you understand the care plan and basic infection control and safety principles. Congratulations and thank you!

Neurosurgery Texas You couldn't have said it any better. I'm currently in School for the CNA & currently we are learning about Living Wills, & Abandonment, etc. Which isn't even necessary. They definitely just make things complicated for no reason. When in the end most of this shit isn't even going to matter.
@Bemyheroseverus

I believe its so "hyped" as you claim because even if CNA's are just wipping butt, they should hold themselves up to a certain standard. I've seen CNA's &RN's that shouldn't even be in the field who don't give a crap. Its common sense but a lot of people dont have that. Like how are men suppose to know to wipe front to back if someone doesn't tell them. If they had no standards and where just trained by other people they wouldn't do it properly and you get abuse.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP! I will donate to your Channel once I am up and running. I passed my exam the first time!! I couldn’t have done it without you!! I am in the State of FL and I just wanted to clarify one thing because it was confusing to me from various things I read regarding hand washing. The nurse examiner was nice enough to clarify that during the skills exam we must continue to wash our hands until we are advised we can simulate. I was under the impression it was only one real hand wash and then I just default to simulating. She said it’s a common misconception. Thanks again 4YOURCNA Highly recommend!!!! ❤️

Thank you so much for creating these videos! They have been super helpful while I study for my exam in a few days. I currently have a cut on one of my hands and I’m curious how best to handle that during my exam if it hasn’t healed by then. That means that I have to wear gloves when I touch anything in the room, correct? For instance, should I apply gloves immediately after washing my hands to gather supplies, then remove those gloves and put on new ones before touching the patient?

You might also find our Practice Test Game Show on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month at 11 a.m. (ET) helpful, too! Like and subscribe to our channel on KZbin to be notified when we go live! As for your question, keep your cut bandaged during the exam and let the evaluator know. It would be advised to wear gloves for all skills as well. However, the first thing your gloves should touch is the patient, so (as long as your bandage is in place), you should put your gloves on right before beginning the skill.

I just want to say thank you so much for making these videos. I passed both my written and skills exams with flying color thanks to your videos. All I did was watch them over and over again and repeat the words you were saying along, I couldn’t practice the skills but watching your videos many times is why I passed the exams. Thank you so much.

@@kenytay Ok I only asked because I remember when I had my exam (a few years ago), there were some steps which we werent allowed to do. For example tapping the fingers together before drying. Our instructor taught us to just let them drip and that we fail if we do something like tapping. And I had to keep telling myself that during that skill😁🙈

Great demo. I'm in CA and their were only slight variations, like using a paper towel to turn the faucet on, in the routine here. Thanks!
@4yourcna
@4yourcna 6 жыл бұрын
A paper towel is not required to turn the water on prior to washing your hands. Your hands are dirty and so is the faucet, so no barrier is required. You can use one if you wish, but this is not a graded checkpoint. If you are turning the faucet on to get water for bathing (AFTER you have washed your hands), then you would use a barrier. But it isn't required prior to handwashing. Hope this helps!
@Zizzyyzz
@Zizzyyzz 6 жыл бұрын
4yourCNA I agree with your logic, but again, the RN who teaches our class and the video demos that we're required to watch, clearly state that you use a paper towel to turn the faucet on and off. 😕 Not sure why there's a variation.

Do you have to use separate paper towels to dry each hand and in between them?
@4yourcna
@4yourcna 6 жыл бұрын
No, that is not a testing standard. It is important to not allow the paper towels to touch unclean portions of your forearms as you dry, but otherwise there is no specific requirement that states a certain number of paper towels be used during drying. Hope this helps!

Hi can I ask questions please help me 1. What should the nurse aide do if you see a resident who is smoking? 2. The son of resident is complaining because of her mother clothes has stain what should the nurse aide do? 2. One of a resident run out of a tray during lunch time and you see one of a resident has 2 tray what should the nurse aide do? Please help me answer this questions cause I didn’t pass my written exam yet I hope you response thank you 🙏🏼
@4yourcna
@4yourcna 6 жыл бұрын
1) Residents are adults and adults have the right to make their own decisions, including smoking. If the resident is smoking safely, there is nothing you need to do. If the resident is unsafe (wearing oxygen, smoking in their room, not usually a smoker, etc.), you MUST ensure the patient's safety and notify the nurse. 2) Offer to get the resident cleaned up and changed. 3) Get a replacement meal tray from the dietary department because the resident may be on dietary restrictions. You cannot give one resident another's meal tray. Hope this helps! You may find our online CNA Test Prep useful - it is located at courses.4YourCNA.com. It covers these principles and more and is FREE!

For the state exam, you will physically wash your hands before and after the first skill that you do. After that, the evaluator will tell you to simulate handwashing for the remainder of the test (simply say WHEN you would wash your hands - you don't have to physically do it). Hope this helps!
