With all due respect he was mixed up in his interpretation of the handwriting on the wall. We are under the New Covenant of Grace through faith compared to Belshazzar he was a Pagan he should have made that clear and not to impute what Belshazzar did on his congregation Amen 🙏

The story of Belshazzar serves as a clear warning about pride and rebellion against God, regardless of the covenant in place. While Belshazzar was indeed a pagan, Graham was illustrating that rebellion against God, whether under the Old Covenant or New, has consequences. The New Covenant of Grace through faith doesn’t eliminate the reality of God’s judgment for unrepented sin, and that was a key part of Graham's message. The emphasis on Belshazzar’s pride, disobedience, and misuse of holy vessels wasn’t to suggest that Christians are in the same position as pagans, but to remind believers that God sees all actions and that His justice remains timeless. While we are under grace, grace doesn’t excuse continual rebellion or taking God’s holiness lightly. This lesson applies to both believers and non-believers alike. Billy Graham often spoke about grace, but he never overlooked the need for repentance and humility before God. He balanced both aspects in his teachings, pointing people toward God's grace through Jesus while cautioning them about taking God’s mercy for granted.

The thing is, teaching others to actually love is the Greatest obstacle to the faith! Where getting it across has to be taught! Often this is too much for one person as a pastor. Then as I have seen, deacons of old were too business like. Where teaching love, where one has to change their way of thinking, behaving where there’s regard for others in contrast to all those that think they’re cute but everyone else sees as jackasses, actually the rear of a jackass!
