@alltherpm Right??!! We hope for some every now and then, but I always screw it up by looking for something else to do; never have to look too far!! Thanks for stopping in to chew the fat a little!!

Looks like a good situation to have timber and machinery available to supply the needs. Also, the option to end up with what you need. Good stuff! Enjoyed the video!

@bigmoustacheal3295 It sure is!! We built dad's gambrel roof barn and my house off of this mill and homemade kiln; tongue and groove throughout the inside... to me, it was cheaper than drywall! Thanks for stopping in; always glad to see you!

cool machine makes life easy not having to break out the circular saw and caulk box
@HayChaffandSawdust18 сағат бұрын
@tomintexas817 Right!! I *can* do that one my sawmill, too; it just takes so long.
@jaysparrowhawk938815 сағат бұрын
That’s a nice machine, looks far easier than my pto saw bench I use
@HayChaffandSawdust17 сағат бұрын
@jaysparrowhawk9388 I bet it is; probably a little safer too? But, we sure can't walk around in bubble wrap and expect to get anything done, can we??!!
@jaysparrowhawk93886 сағат бұрын
@ I already lost one finger on it, won’t make that mistake again in a hurry.
@HayChaffandSawdust14 сағат бұрын
@jaysparrowhawk9388 Oh NO!! 😟 At least you're a quick learner! 😉 I do like the fact that the blades are covered and there are anti-kickback doodads on it; Those boards will hit ~mach2 when they kick back. Be safe, sir!!
@jaysparrowhawk93884 сағат бұрын
@@HayChaffandSawdust1 it happened so fast I didn’t even know I done it till I saw the bleeding. 80 horse power stops for nothing. I let that saw bench go rusty for a couple of years before I felt brave enough to use it again. I like your set up with the trestles, bet that saves your back and makes it easy to lift the boards with a loader.

Iffn I had your tooling, and your capability…. Wood have all of the tree trunks that are piled up all nice and stickered and ready for the humugidy to drip outta them and I wood finish my shop and build the long awaited storage shed so I could actually work in my garage/shop. Iffn 😂. You got a pretty sweet setup there betwinxt me bandsaw mill and the edger, first time I have seen one work. Slick, Slick 😊

👍👍 you have a lot of cool toys.
@HayChaffandSawdust18 сағат бұрын
@crazyfeller5704 Knowing you as I *think* I do, I bet you would REALLY like the stuff that YT don't like!! 😉 The worst thing about most of my toys, is the fact that most of them are for working; I don't have may "relaxing" toys. That's Ok though; I kill time by working. Hope all is going well with you and your loved ones.

Good Amish man I worked with runs a mill with that same edger...makes bank having a good deal even with lumber being crap right now
@HayChaffandSawdust18 сағат бұрын
@brandonf1226 The edger is a game changer FOR SURE!! I have never seen a tag or brand on this one; it reminds me of a Cook's, but I'm not confident; do you know the brand of his?
@happy863715 сағат бұрын
Do you let your boards dry for a while before cutting them down to size or just run them green? Good stuff never seen one of them before
@HayChaffandSawdust18 сағат бұрын
@happy8637 The boards straight off of my sawmill; the logs have been down for a couple of years, but they are still very wet; for things that shrinkage is not an issue (hay wagons, corral boards, etc...) I just use them green/wet. Thanks for stopping in for a visit!

That edger sure looks nice, i have to edge everything on the mill. I have been thinking about trying to make one . Of you were making one from scratch what would you change if anything on the edger you have?
@HayChaffandSawdust18 сағат бұрын
@stacyharmon5865 I would change a number of things: on the stationary side, there's only about 3" clearance for the wane; on a piece with swell or something, it won't fit and I have to use the moveable blade twice. I don't like my adjustment for the moveable blade; the handle protrudes above the plane of the deck when in a certain position. Mine only has @6" of infeed and outfeed tables; it is perfect for 8-10' stuff, but too short for 10+ if using it by myself. I can do 20' stuff if I have help. I would like to have something that gives me a reference line at the operator's end; I've got a LOT better with time, but sometimes still measure to know where to set my blade; if I have the narrow end of the flitch at my end, it's hard for me to see that it's going to be "cleaned up" well enough. The biggest thing I would do would be to make the whole thing a foot or two higher; my back does NOT like bending over or stooping (not complaining; I could have been paralyzed and I can still move and work, so...). All in all I really love the machine and all of the above is very nitpicky. Funny thing, a buddy and I have a cliche that we always say when something isn't going well; we say "Boy, that edger's nice!!"; honestly, it's changed the operation THAT much; we can be fixing fence and break something and the other will say "But at least the edger's nice". 🙄 I know that's not funny to you, but "you just had to be there"...
@ramondanderson673014 сағат бұрын
Did you build your edger?
@HayChaffandSawdust18 сағат бұрын
@ramondanderson6730 No, I sure didn't; I had contemplated it for a long time; a hay customer had this one sitting in a fencerow; traded him hay and some wampum for it. I also know where there's another out in the woods; it's a LOT older and PTO powered, but still useable.

I tell you what, you're about as handy as a pocket in a shirt with a hole in it.😂 Not really!!! Love watching all the stuff you do. I really should quit watching you and get my chores done but it's more fun watching your videos. Thank you Sir.

@brandonf1226 What an idea!! Thanks for jumping in and sharing!! I had never considered a spike; I use the edge as best I can; a pivot would be AWESOME!!

Yous can't just tell me it's basically a table saw. I might try N hack one together.
@HayChaffandSawdust18 сағат бұрын
@JeffreySimundson You're correct!! It is basically a table saw with feed and two blades; hacking one together wouldn't be too difficult. It has a VERY aggressive blade(s) though; they can be purchased though. Thanks for stopping in!
@JeffreySimundson5 сағат бұрын
@HayChaffandSawdust1 I think I witnessed these blades before. Maybe I need a closer look on yours 🧐 happily continuing to stop in!
