Is it the best product out there? NOPE and we would never install it. However, if it's already on a home and properly caulked and hand painted, it will last forever. It's not worth the expense of a homeowner replacing it all.

I have it and I’m trying to replace the worst pieces but damn every time I try to pull the bottom loose it just wants to pull the nail through instead pulling the nail out. It wasn’t taken care of now it’s all rotten.

@@whatfreedom7 Very gently raise the piece of siding above and then cut the nails loose with a sawzall. This will keep you from damaging more siding. Caulk every nailhead and butt joint with a premium elastromeric sealant and you should be able to salvage a good bit of your siding. We are getting ready to do another similar project in Cartersville. The repairs have been made and we just extended their deck. Now, we are going back to hand paint: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqvFYn13ja-gbtU Surprisingly, most of his siding is in great shape. The mismatched Nichi siding someone put on the right side of the chimney several years ago was already starting to delaminate though. Once we repaint the masonite, he will be in great shape for years to come. 2 coats of Sherwin Williams Duration had applied.

@@Stevesbe the "rotten" homes weren't caused by masonite siding - it's caused by poor caulking, painting and maintenance.
