I'm an hvac tech by trade, as in that's what I went to school for, and I was looking to run my own business because I've made a few mistakes in the past that have made me difficult to hire. I have worked within the trades by myself for a while and I'm looking to become more legitimate. I was wondering what license would be best for hvac and plumbing/pools, as that is what I have the most experience in alongside my handyman skills. It seems the b-2, but I was wondering how I would go about the experience sign off as the people who I worked under have passed away so I just kept working for myself. Any information on what I could do in this situation would be greatly appreciated.

It’s been a long time, to my knowledge last 20 years or so. They have from time to time, try to pass bills to increase it, however most licensed contractors oppose the bill, and so does the board.

Not only California Nevada and Florida have laws similar to this. Some states don’t require a license at all.

Registering with the city is basically you registering a business nothing to do with a contractors license. So if you want to be considered a business, then you should but a contractors license and business entity are different you would basically be registering a sole owner that what registering with the city means

Tienes que tomar una decisión. Si aún va a intentar obtener la licencia, no tendría sentido cerrarla, ya que la licencia debe estar vinculada a una entidad. Sin embargo, mantenerlo abierto significa que tiene que presentar como mínimo 0 en sus impuestos cada año, lo que creo que cuesta alrededor de $ 250- $ 350. Sin embargo, si decide no continuar con el proceso de obtener su licencia y no utilizará su corporación, la mejor decisión será cerrarla.
