You’re on the right lines with heating it up with this comment… But don’t use a torch. Roll up a towel place it next to drain, and then prop a hairdryer to point at the hole. Run that on high heat and go take a smoke break. Then come back and use your drain tool.

I don't wanna claim I'm a plumber or anything, I'm a do it myself'r but. I would have used a hard handled screw driver, and a small hammer. Once I got it to move some, spray some penetration oil in there. We have all been there brother, love the channel and the videos.👊👍

That's a good idea I love vetos I went to a store that had them and picked the pack back up and it was heavy with it empty. Lol I'd be screwed if I put my tools in it. I carry more than I should lol hate running back to the truck. But veto makes excellent bags

I just take short side of a flat bar of the right size and drive it into the drain and unscrew it out. The sharp corners/edges of it bite into the brass sidewall and grip. The "cross bar" in it is always soft or rotted and wont hold up using the drain key.

That "fancy" screwdriver you were using really did you in here. What would have helped was an old fashioned Craftsman screwdriver with the plastic handle. That rubberized screwdriver handle probably reduced the amount of energy of each blow by 50% if not more. That and a 16 oz. ball peen hammer.
@thehandymanexperience226Ай бұрын
Lol stop picking on my cheap hust screw driver 🤣. But yea a screw driver with metal through the whole thing and a hammer probably would have worked better. I notice drain was pushed all the way to the front causing alot of friction and biting when I was hitting it back

The drain removal tool I have, allows you to get a screw driver across it to get a longer lever arm and leverage. Leverage is what you were lacking here.
@thehandymanexperience226Ай бұрын
What's it called?
@oldfredbearАй бұрын
@thehandymanexperience226 check out the husky "Double Ended Tub Drain Wrench" Once you get it in the drain, you can either put the screw driver across one of the ends, or through one of the holes in the shaft and use two hands to get your leverage to twist.

@oldfredbear yea I have that on the truck, I definitely like them I grab it with channel locks with the double sided drain wrench haha

@@thehandymanexperience226 yeah, the real power with it though lies in being able to put your weight above it, while having two hands applying torque.

It’s getting really frustrating watching you miss using tools, pliers aren’t hammers drain pullers work as long as you use them correctly. I literally was biting my finger nails watching you tightening that drain waiting for you to strip it out 😂 Pick up extra star for being patient 👍👍
@thehandymanexperience226Ай бұрын
Linemans r definitely are hammers! Anything could be a hammer if you set your mind to it. The drain has to be tight to seal it, I probably went over board but I didn't get a leak. I did label it what not to do

You should have tried the hammer removal trick that might have worked especially after loosening it. Put the claw of the hammer in the drain then put pressure on the opposite side then spin it.
