In May 2024, Library innovator-in-residence Jeffrey Yoo Warren hosted an event called "Hidden Portals," inviting the public to visit a series of virtual installations of historic Asian American communities on the Library of Congress campus in Washington, D.C., and at the sites where those communities once existed. Accessible by mobile device, the experimental experience provided an immersive 3D reconstruction of these neighborhoods developed with archival photographs and records from local and Library of Congress collections. This is a video recording of the portal depicting Hanford California's China Alley in 1892 between N Green and White Streets. It was created in collaboration with Evelyn Hang Yin and the help of the China Alley Preservation Society.
