Nice! Are you at all worried about supporting the center of the kayak?

Thanks from PA, and good fishing man.

Will this work if the pulleys are directly over the kayak so that straps can be used. I don't really have a place to tie to on the bow of my yak. In other words, can you pull to the side and still have the rope brake work?
@TheFishingFather4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late response! Yes it would work no problem. You just need to keep in mind weight distribution. Lifting from the center, or middle will just require more of a balancing act than anchoring to the bow and stern. Thanks for the view!

I was told never to hang from the handles or scupper holes. I think it would be so much easier to do it just this way maybe another through the center to help keep the yak from deforming

Thanks- exactly what I was looking for. Mounting kayak on a davit outside. Used exactly the same gambrel. Weight is not even but to be honest the heavy end is pretty hard for one person to lift (100 pound kayak). Any thoughts? Great solution.
@TheFishingFather3 жыл бұрын
Love that this helped, mine is still holding very strong with no bowing to the kayak or structural damage. I do not seem to have a problem lifting the kayak, however it does help to be in the most leveraged position for the heavy end. See ya around

Great video! I wish you could put out some fresh material, it’s been a while. Question: how’s the hanging setup lasting up to this point - and sagging/bowing of your kayak? Before I commit to doing this for my big fish 120, I’d appreciate an update (I wouldn’t want to cause any sagging/bowing). Thanks and keep those videos coming.

Only question I have is will this damage the kayak? I'm looking for storage options too. I know it said to store on its side. but I assume that is referring to storing on the floor.
@TheFishingFather5 жыл бұрын
Great question. I do not foresee this harming this kayak. The plastic they use is a strong durable poly material. I can't advocate that it wont ruin any and all types of kayak, but I suggest to use your best judgement. If worried, you could loop a strap around the middle as well. I have not seen any bend or break with the kayak yet (6 months). Cheers and thanks for the view! EDIT: Yes, when they store on side, they mean on the floow.

LOVE the kayak. Depends on your needs. Stability....yes, room.....yes, safety....yes. Only downsides I see are the weight. Its a heavy one. I do eye the 108 every now and then. If you have the means to transport the yak, then do it! NO REGRETS, thanks for the watch

Completely over built... And I approve. A couple improvements for full optimization: 1. The "hinge" should be directly above the load or, at least rotated 90 degrees (again, doesn't really matter due to how over spec it is.) 2. The pulley systems (block and tackle) should hang directly above the load point (90 degrees.) 3. Use some wall/ceiling pulleys for change of direction and get the ropes on the wall so you can use both at the same time (doesn't really matter due to the low height of this particular ceiling, but for higher ceilings, you'll want to keep the load fairly level.)
@TheFishingFather2 жыл бұрын
Are you speaking Spanish? hahaha. I very much appreciate the input. I will try to adjust it as you mentioned. I did not place the "hinge" right above the attach point because I needed more clearance.

Seems overly complicated compared to the normal ones that everyone seems to be using. Also not really supporting the weight of the kayak or anything and just putting all the stress on 2 points.
@TheFishingFather2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input. Its a rather heavy kayak and I would not feel safe with the traditional methods. Overcomplicated...it was rather easy actually. I have not noticed any bowing yet. But thanks to your constructive input, maybe I will add a brace to more support the weight in the middle. Thanks and have a wonderful week!
