Keith, I think you answered the Wood Chuck question. The one asking what would a Wood Chuck do if a Wood Chuck couldn't chuck wood? Grab his son and do some metal art! No implying your a Wood Chuck but what a creative way to get the log splitting done dad. Kudos to you on this one and let your boy know he had a great idea there! I had to share this video with my grandkids and family on Facebook!

As the paint wears off, you keep scraping the path as it becomes loose then it just rides on smooth flat steel. The only paint lost, is the rolling contact surface or path of roller.

@billdlv Both were steel for the wall art, the aluminum talk will be for the metal art on the hood of his car. Have to get some more aluminum and will most likely have it anodized...

@vondeliusc Some JPG's are just to busy and don't have enough contrast for detail to import and convert in simple forms. I pick a couple hard lining or defining features in Adobe photo shop, twisted and tweeked on it, until I put a face on the silhouette, thought about the look I was going for and then drew it with a sharpie, scanned it and Imported that, then smoothed it, when I got it to the size I liked.

A fine rendition of a fine young man. But Keith, everything you do in the shop is a work of art.

Keith outstanding. So some where aluminum and some steel? Or did you have aluminum front and steel back? Your fabrication skills will serve you well as you move into making art.

Hey, good for you. Taking all those tools and know how and applying it to art. I've been semi retired 8 years now and I pretty much use my shop for personal projects including furthering my 40 years of being an artist, now not for money. I can send you some photos over email if you want.

Sure, that would be cool!

If you were to do this again maybe you could do some shading by polishing it different directions. Like with a scotch-brite wheel in a grinder. You could even spray tinted clear over that.

Keith- You barely touched on the photo conversion. At minimum, what steps did you do, because it was AWESOME from pic to PCM..? Or better, do a video on with cam over your shoulder on monitor, observing steps. I am AWESOME at Solidworks/scanned imports, but not so much on JPG imports/conversions. -Christian

@DieselCrawler86 See now a days, SS an't going to hold you, if theres even going to be any and anything you invested in, an't worth a crap, so you still have to ride the tread mill. So I'm going to jump on a different tread mill and call it self retirement! :)

If plasma cut art work is going to be the way of your retirement, I almost feel obligated to take over your unused Clausing, kt mill, drill press etc, etc,
