Christmas lights look so pretty! Good job Jason and girls! Love the olive branches! I love how Monty always shows up to help. I so miss having pots on my front porch. I stopped because of the hard water stains. Next year, I think I am going to do AquaPots so that I can have them again. Seeing you decorate with the seasons makes me want them back!

Using saucer’s under pots makes a huge difference. Clear ones hardly show up

Hey Janey, Looks so beautiful. I have a suggestion tho. Since the water marks won't come off, get some concrete paint and paint just the section of floor in that door area.You will love it. I painted my house foundation and it looks so clean now. A little paint is an amazing thing! Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Hey Jamie, it’s George. Just your Christmas decorations look good up by your front door where the balls are where you have the poinsettias in them it would look good if you wrap them in with lights give it a little ambience. Love you and hope you’re having an amazing and gardening day.

Hi Janey: An idea for the future.. removing the wall where your front door is and raising that floor to house height and bumping that wall out to edge and then opening the wall up into dining room where the window is. Keeping a pretty post at the corner for support. Then adding a portico out from front door. It would make it more open when you walk into the house and give you a nice spacious entry. ☺️

Agree. I was told that if you don’t change the roofline of your home it’s way cheaper. I would enclose the front porch, and enclose the back porch as well. It would add so much more openness inside and the front and rear porches can easily become nice outdoor living spaces without a lot of expense. Portico on front for sure.

Those are major load-bearing walls. A " pretty post" in the corner is not going to support all that weight. You're talking about a major structural change. I think Janey would rather spend it on an outdoor project. 😊

I love your California take on Christmas using Olive branches. The Olive looks so pretty with your door as well. I like to use grapevine wreaths around pots sometimes for natural texture option other than plants - don't know that it would work on your maple pots without cutting the wreath. I also use pinecones as a top dressing on my Christmas containers. Your entry and house looks so pretty!

I used to have wine barrels when I rented years ago. When they rotted I saved the rings. Then made what you have, I have 4 in my back yard hanging in different places. I have small wind chimes in one, a small pot in another, one I spray painted and is hanging with decorative beads. The 4th is just hanging with vines growing through. I still have a few rings left with plans for something decorative. I like your olive branch ideas. Nice.

I was at a winery and they had wine barrels with two rings crossed sitting vertical on top with a lantern inside. Some greenery wrapped around. Just beautiful.

Unfortunately those stains have proven very difficult to remove, even with a pressure washer. Has anyone had success removing concrete stains?

Hi Jason! I saw this on a house flipping show once and it worked for them. Put some water on the stain then sprinkle baking soda. Pour soda pop on top of that. Let it fizz up for a bit. Use a push broom to mix the formula together. The formula should be fizzing and the stain lifting from the concrete. Then use a pressure washer to wash away the mix. Might have to repeat the process for stubborn stains. Hope this hack works for you! 🙂🇨🇦

It’s beginning to look like Christmas for sure. Just a suggestion to make your front porch more attractive would be to hose it down and get rid of all the dirt stains , that would make it look really fresh and clean.
