Everything about Rachel's presence and being says that she is deeply, deeply, deeply insecure and needing praise and attention. Which is fine, but the reason people "don't like her" is not because she comes across as super confident. It's because her confidence is disingenuous.

Great vid! Her explaining that she has a "late 50's friend" bothered me now watching it again. First of all Rachel is 40 soooo it's not like she's a teenager and has an elderly friend lol. She also acts like she's so cool and wise to have such diversity in her friend group...but who are they? How did they become friends?? That's what the caller was asking... How does one meet new people? Rachel doesn't care to really answer she just wants people to know that she's different and better than most because she has AMAZING friends....but does she really? Her two friends that she talks about a lot...they seem to have been work related...? One was/is her stylist and one worked for Hollis Co....Sooooo honestly I don't think she has a lot of friends outside of her boo.
@mootspoints

Her whole answer honestly sounded more like a humble brag ("I have such a diverse friend group - even one person over 50! - and we talk about deep things") than actual advice. It was cringe to hear her say "I'm trying to help here" when talking to Jeffrey. Umm, are you?

Okay to the crux of the video... I genuinely agree that women deserve a life where they can celebrate their authenticity and unconditionally accept themselves, but I also don't agree with RH's version of self-love: volatile self-image, zero accountability, and performative oversharing. I think your description of how you care for yourself and keep positive self-talk is a much healthier approach.

I have 3 daughters and it's so tough because you want them to be proud of their bodies and love their bodies without fully drawing importance to our appearance. I always say "our bodies don't define us, our bodies don't make us who we are there so much more to us" I also speak very highly of my own body because in my mind, I'd rather have them hear how much I think my body is amazing for what it does and how much I love it(which I really do). We also stand in the mirror before bed and say things like "I am smart" "I am wonderful" "I am the best me" I want them to have a positive self image and it starts with me. I hope they carry a good view of themselves as they grow but only time will tell

As a person just a bit older than Rachel, watching her is like watching a train wreck. I just can't even deal with her, but I'm drawn to the insanity that comes from anything she does. Who could actually be friends with her? I could only be in the same space for an hour at most and would likely have a lot of darkly sarcastic comebacks. BTW I think Oprah has a very similar story about someone following her into the bathroom.

You strike me (based o your videos, hello parasocial relationship) as being very outgoing and extroverted. Rachel, based on her self-description here, is probably an outgoing introvert. My husband is a self-described introvert, as am I, but he is far more outgoing than I am. I'm a good host, but if I don't have a role in a social setting I am quiet and shy. I don't think Rachel knows what an introvert is because from her descriptions of herself, it sounds like she one. Introvert doesn't mean 'not social' or 'doesn't like people', it means you have to be away from people to recharge. You can be a social introvert, as in you like socialising but that you also need alone time to recharge.

Thank you for acknowledging the part about speaking to people off camera! This bothers me so bad. The way they do this is so weird. An OCCASIONAL reference to Jack would be a smart tactic to show she doesn't do all this alone and sort of pay tribute to the help from her crew. But the frequency especially in this conversation is basically like why are we the viewers even here? Like am I interrupting a private conversation?
@kbird6208

Came here to say the same... It's a combination of feeling like she is only talking to the audience as an afterthought, and also since we can't see and hear the others, it is deliberately excluding viewers. Especially when it's completely random. But she probably needs everyone to remember she's cooler than them because she has a whole crew.

On Keya’sWorld, Kayla talked to a LMHC about Rachel, and the LMHC said that there are some theories that when people get divorced, they revert back to the age they were when they entered into that relationship. Now, I don’t know if that’s only in regards to relationships or in general, but it’s an interesting theory and would certainly explain some of her juvenile behavior in the last few years.

It's interesting because the post that had Rachel go viral was her in a swimsuit saying that she loved her body because it was what gave birth to her kids or something. And then GWYF told people that if they weren't sticking to whole 30 (which...screw whole 30) then they needed to better. And now she's come back to loving herself in spite of how grotesque she looks, when the social landscape is more likely to embrace "loving your flaws." I watched a video on Instagram vs reality being kind of bs toxic positivity so what I'm saying is, it's all toxic positivity all the way down

My guess is she started on some of the new beliefs sometime after she started dating her boyfriend. I have a hunch that Rachel tries to mirror his interests: he likes to buy thrifted clothes only (for the most part?), believes in the universe/"woo woo" stuff, and is a tour manager for Shawn Mendez. All of a sudden in her podcasts and "Rach Talk" episodes she is taking about spirit guides/the universe working in her life; she says she buys thrifted clothing only (with some exceptions); and now she says she has dreamed of being a musician, is working on songwriting and playing guitar, and has even posted a photo she took of Dave Grohl's book and labeled herself as a music nerd. I admit my diagnosis is speculation but I wonder how much truth there is in why she's gone through this shift.

Nope - it’s not just you. She’s grasping…desperate for people to put her back on the “relatable” pedestal. She’s very condescending and judgemental with a side of shame…and she gains steam when anyone agrees with her. It’s so terribly annoying.

Heck yeah I wash all can lids with soap and water because I once heard about rats crawling all over the pallets of canned food/drinks, pooping all over them. I’ve never been able to get that out of my head. Maybe that’s an irrational fear, but I can’t consciously serve any food or drink to anyone or myself unless I wash them.

Good for you that you don't think about your body! You are lucky! But many women say negative things about their body parts and body as a whole all the time and every day. So to say positive things about those parts can change some women's lives immensely.

Hasn't she said in previous Rach talks that Jeffery is her teenager's dog? I didn't even think she LIKED Jeffery! The shirt is just her way of jumping on the "crazy dog mom" trend and it's so IRRITATING! AGH!!! That dog deserves SO much better than someone who just thinks of him as a cute shirt model.

regarding body image: i didn't realise i had dysphoria until after my mastectomy last fall. up until then i knew that the person in the mirror was me, but i didn't fell all that connected to my body. but then, when i really saw myself in the mirror when the surgery sites were mostly healed and the swelling had gone down? that was the first time in my life when my body felt like MY body, and not just the meat robot my mind happens to ride around in. minor aside: the type of headphone you're wearing looks like an on ear headphone. if your ears aren't ginormous over ear headphones might be more comfortable.

Listening to this, I don't find anything objectively bad with what she's saying. It's nothing new and she doesn't really say it in any profound way, but not bad. However, her delivery seems so forced and calculated. Like she's trying her hardest to be funny and "relatable". If I was listening to this on my own, I'd stop after the first minute.

She is seems like she is trying SO hard to come off as quirky. It’s cringe. And while I didn’t hate all her advice in this podcast, I don’t think it’s applicable to everyone. I personally find it VERY strange when someone “goes deep” within a few minutes or even hours of knowing me. It makes me think they lack boundaries. Perhaps that’s just me because I’m a total and complete Capricorn lol. But I don’t appreciate someone dumping their life story on me or all their problems. It makes me uncomfortable. I would prefer to start a friendship off with a similar interest or just “superficial” conversation and then go into the deeper stuff as we build trust. Is that just me? Lol. I am similar to you B and really my best friends are my family, boyfriend and I have a few girlfriends I would consider my “besties”. So maybe I’m the strange one… lol

She either doesn't understand what an extrovert is or she just wants the world to believe she's an extrovert. I mean I get it. If you found my old MySpace page it says I'm outgoing and an extrovert and neither couldn't be further from the truth. As I've gotten older I've learned to embrace that part of me and not try to wish it away anymore. But there is a difference between being an extrovert or introvert and being outgoing or not. You can be an introvert and very social and enjoy talking. You can be an extrovert and not be outgoing. I don't think she gets that because the way she described herself was pretty clearly an introvert. I personally think her entire public persona is made up of what she thinks she needs to be. It all comes off as fake to me. Again I get it, for years and years I felt I had to be more extroverted and outgoing. I had to be more bubbly and talkative. I had to fit better with what was/is seen as normal for a girl/women. But that just isn't who I am and when I finally stopped trying to force that, I was much happier. I feel like that's what Rachel is doing.

I HATE talking on planes. I really hate talking anywhere, if I'm not in the mood. If I have headphones in, if I'm reading a book, if I'm not making eye contact with you, please do not try to converse with me. I mean like, "Wow, it's so sunny today!" yeah cool, but like, then continuing to try to engage me. And in the Southeast, people think you're unfriendly if you don't want to engage in smalltalk every time you go to Dollar Tree or whatever. Leave me alone!

I do hate having to hear someone else's shouted conversations on a plane. If this is her thing on planes, then wear headphones. And if someone is awkward with you like this, just politely tell them you'd like to get back to your music or podcast or book. It's really not that hard. You cannot expect everyone to know your personal likes and dislikes on a plane, you dingbat. Like, I have these pet peeves, but I don't expect everyone to know them, so I'm prepared with some ways to get out of conversations. Welcome to being a human, Rachel. Have you not been one in a while? God all her revelations about life are like, things the rest of us did when we were 20, 21, 22. She's so stunted.

LMAOO I’ve never heard the peeing on can tops but I have read about lil creepy crawly critters “peepin n poopin” (as my nanny baby used to say) on the cans. My family in Brazil cleans the tops with some anti-bacterial spray as they put them away and I think it’s routine in their area. Don’t tell my mom but I just drink my la croix and mind my business…

The call in part of the podcast was weird. Rachel’s number 1 and 3 are contradictory. She said it takes a while to find a genuine connection but then number 3 is going deep fast because that’s how she is? That makes no sense to me. She can’t keep up with tall tales exaggerations and straight up lies. Great video as always 👍✌️🙏❤️
