Much love to you Otis! What a great story! I love the quote from your Dad - funny and true at the same time. I have had the privilege of playing some great gigs in Las Vegas and New York City and then travel straight back to Arkansas to my real life and had the same thought as you. I always try to tell myself to soak up all the good vibe and memories that I can because I love to relive them. Have a great day!

THAT…. Is in fact the important thing to remember… is that you got to do it… at all and now it’s a cherished memory… that belongs to you… Otis…!!! Mowing the lawn and cleaning up after the dog… is just the daily routine… but the memory of being on that stage… can be relived anytime you see any of those people involved… again! Glad you got to do it and have that memory.

Your speaking of Todd Snider early on, then listening to the train horn in the background of your video, reminded me of one of many road trip tours my wife and I took to follow Todd on tour. Knuckleheads in Kansas City, train tracks running alongside the property, locomotive blaring away as Todd was performing 'Play a Train Song.'

When you're broke, barely employed, and half drunk on a Saturday afternoon, trying to remember why you moved to Memphis, WEVL could be your only friend. Countless hours of diverse music and the comfort of knowing that you aren't the only weirdo out there. They even have a death metal show. If you're into that kind of thing.

Maybe singing with old rockers and mowing the yard have equal significance in the grand scheme. If we are looking for meaning, we have to project one onto it.

If there are any Mott the Hoople fans out there or anyone that is interested in what is/was like being in a traveling band in 1972 please take a little time and read Ian Hunter's 'Diary of a Rock 'n' Roll Star'....to most of you it will seem like ancient history but some of you will get it.... Nice job Otis... truly, coming home is something like an out of body experience, like some body woke you up from a dream and now - something entirely different, back to reality...

It's called Victoria Square, Otis. On the right, the building with the columns is the Town Hall I saw so many great artists there. Rory Gallagher, AC/DC, Jethro Tull and one time Lynyrd Skynyrd - (no one had heard of them at that point, but my friends and I had got hold of a copy of their first album and we were like - we've got to go and check these guys out) - they were opening for a Dutch band called Golden Earring who had a big hit at the time with a song called "Radar Love" Poor Golden Earring - I have never seen a band so comprehensively "blown off the stage" (not that I like that sentiment myself, but the gentlest of hearts who were there would have to admit that that's what happened. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed your times in my hometown.

Great stories as usual. It always feels like I’m hanging out with an old friend. On the other hand, I have cut more grass (with a push mower) than I care to recall but the closest I ever got to hanging with a “rock star” was years ago when a band I was in played a festival near Asheville where we were on the bill with Bruce Hornsby and I got to watch how he could conduct his band with subtle head moves. It was pretty amazing. Now I have to go find some Ian Hunter videos.

Todd Snider and his wonderful band of “rough around the edges” musicians (may they never become to smooth!) sound awesome and delivered a riveting version of John Prines iconic song Angel From Montgomery! Seeing you there in the front row enjoying it was also great fun! Looks like it was a great afternoon being enjoyed by everyone who was lucky enough to be present! Yes, I’ll do my best to support you and the folks in this band as well as the radio station who made it all possible. But a huge thanks to you for sharing this as well so much more!👍🙏🤗😃🎸🪕🎼❤️💕💝✌️👋
